We stayed at the Palace Hotel on our honeymoon 40 years ago, and returned for a couple nights for our anniversary this past summer. It still retains the old San Francisco elegance and style that defines luxury on a grand scale. The Garden Court is one of the stunningly beautiful public rooms in San Francisco. Our room -- we got... More

This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are big and comfortable. Although the hotel is over 100 years old, with amazing chandeliers and 14 foot ceilings in the rooms and much higher in the lobby, it's all been modernized and kept up to date. The most amazing part was a full size (though not deep) swimming pool, all located just... More

I stayed here for 2 days prior to meeting up with work colleagues in Santa Clara. The Palace is a lovely old hotel with bags of character, it's in a great central location for exploring the city and the staff are good, not great, but good. My experience started very positively - I chose to phone to book and was... More

What a great old hotel! The Palace is located in downtown SF in walking distance to Union Square and many great restaurants. The hotel itself is a wonderful historic property that has been well maintained. It was beautiful and the price was right. We had exceptional service and were upgraded to a suite upon our arrival (SPG member). My only... More

It had been a while since my last stay at the Palace Hotel, and clearly they have lost their five star rating in my book. The overall attention to details is missing. The rooms have always been a bit dated however, my room this last week had a TV remote that did not work, an in-room safe that would not... More

Travelled from Scotland for a week's stay here before moving onto Vegas. The hotel lobby and public areas were very elegant and beautiful. The room itself was standard, and bathroom dated. We could've stayed in a cheaper hotel near the pier but they would've lacked the elegance and character of the Palace and I'm glad we stayed here. It was... More

Travel to the City every few weeks and just love to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the larger chain Westin's of the world and stay at the Palace. She is indeed still a grand old dame hotel with an elegant but not stuffy feel to her. The brunch on Sunday is still one of the best... More

It is always such a delight to hear when our guests make the point to try the restaurant options within the hotel. The Garden Court truly is a breathtaking venue for breakfast, brunch, tea or lunch. Thank you for sharing your wonderful comments on The Garden Court and our Piped Piper Bar & Grill. I hope you had the opportunity... More

LOVE the Palace- not sure why others have issues- if you know what you are getting. The location is the best... walk, Bart and the streetcar all right there. The rooms are nice - clean not overly appointed. I have ALWAYS found and this was our 6th stay at the Palace, that the service and the employees are extremely nice... More

I stayed at the Palace for a conference in November - I used the AAA breakfast package rate. It's a really neat (and big) old hotel in a good location (if you want to stay downtown). Short walk to most meetings in the financial district, and a good (flat) place to run from if you want to get out and... More

This place is nice, but definitely too expensive. The lobby area and restaurant is well done, and very attractive. The rooms are average, nothing unique or different from other hotels. The Wifi was not free, and the fee to use it was outrageous! I've stayed at hotels of similar rank and quality of service, that have provided free Wifi! The... More

Thank you for your comments on the beauty and grandeur of the lobby and The Garden Court. We do participate in detailed analysis of the local area when working on our price points for Wi-Fi, parking, etc… The public transportation in San Francisco is one of the best in the US and something we certainly suggest to guests traveling to...
