What a wonderful hotel, just 2 blocks from Union Square with fantastic access to everything you need in San Francisco! The White Swan is a decidedly mixed bag. On the one hand, their luxury king rooms are spacious with a fireplace and dressing room (see pictures). We booked here because of the glowing reviews describing the White Swan as a charming little inn. I'm afraid it's just tired and in need of a serious scrubbing and updating. The location is pretty good and within walking distance of Chinatown and Union Square. It seems safe at night in the surrounding areas. The staff was friendly and helpful.... more

Spent 4 nights at the White Swan - it was our first trip to San Francisco, and we wanted to see as much as possible. The staff (all young) were extremely helpful right from the first, when we arrived well before check-in. This hotel was in a convenient location and the staff were really friendly. The rooms are really cute and are very comfortable. The fridge is stocked with complimentary soda and water - which is really nice after a long day of touring the city. The breakfast in the morning had plenty of items to choose from and was really good. more
