staff is fantastic. setting is perfect if you llike a quiet little town nestled under the west maui mountains. accommodations are adequate. free pancake breakfast with coffee. hot tub for relaxation. large kitchen for your use. free tours which are very fun. DO NOT WASTE $400.00 renting a car -- you do not need one. this was my first time... More

It's good place to meet other hostel-ers. Stayed for three nights. The surrounding neighborhood isn't the best, at that's putting it lightly. Wouldn't go out in the neighborhood for a walk after dark.. Free tours are great, clean bathrooms and rooms and cool staff. More

The staff are here awesome and that makes a really big difference. This is such a fun place- you get to go on trips and so you get really close with everyone. I really didn't want to leave. I normally never go back to places that I've traveled to but I want to go back here because I just didn't... More

This was my first time ever staying at a hostel. It was recommended by friends that stayed their the year prior. It was immediately a openly friendly/family like environment. The free trips were a plus, and was by far the cheapest option for solo traveling. You will meet the best people from around the globe and have the time of... More

This place is amazing! The hostel itself is clean (never ever seen any hair in showers, dirty toilets, rotten food in a fridge or dirty dishes left), well managed (no food stealing, no noise at night) with a very nice and helpful staff. Their free tours are great - you get to see the island all around and it is... More

Great hostel. Beautiful tours, nice people, good place to be. Clean. I really enjoyed being there. Only the kitchen could be open earlier. If you stay for a couple of days, consider to get a car for one or two days to be able to move around independently. More

The bungalow is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, Maui is awesome, with great beaches, waterfalls and hikes and good snorkeling. The hostel is in Wailuku, which is a bit run down, but is redeveloping and has a few nice restaurants (the Thai and Vietnamese places are great) and shops ("Takamiya", the market down the street is... Seriously... Greatest. Time. Ever. It's a hostel so don't expect the ritz, but you'll never have a better time in your life. The guides, Henry and Nadine, are fun, informative, and make the trip personal and exciting. You'll never want to stay anywhere else once you've come home to the bungalow. More

I just returned from a 12 day stay at the Banana Bungalow. This was my first time staying at a hostel and I had a great experience. I choses to stay at the Banana Bungalow because of the free tours and I did all of the tours, my favorite was hiking Haleakala. The tour guides and staff were super friendly... More
