Nice web site, the reality is a little different. Good proximity to park but a little tricky to find. Get there before dark. Many many stairs to access house and Orchid Suite. Hospitality was Ok but minimal. We woke to find there was no water due to a broken water pump: no showers, no brushed teeth, no working toilet. We... More

The Tara Firma Inn, if you can find the cozy B&B in the enchanted rainforest, is a good choice to stay on your way to explore the Volcanoes National Park. The host was friendly and very helpful. He kept the fire going in the stove, which was nice to dry our clothes, after a rainy-day hike in the park. The... More

We stayed here on a last minute family vacation. Supreme location to Volcano Park and some great restaurants in Volcano. We even had the unique experience of seeing a chameleon from our breakfast table. We watched this little guy for over an hour. The owners are super nice and the rooms are cozy. Very affordable for this town where most... More

The proprietors have attitude issues that made for an unpleasant stay. The inn's website does not clearly indicate there's a $25 extra per person charge for more guests than two. That brought the per-night cost to $190 -- $215 with tax included, The hosts would not agree to eliminate the extra charge, nor would they consent to our request to... More

We were last minute travelers and ended up here because it was the only lodging with availability on Expedia when we booked our trip. Our host Fritz was friendly and made us feel comfortable. We had the Orchid Suite which has its own private bathroom, but the other suite room is a bed in an open air loft above the... More

Fritz and Kate absoluely bent over backwards for us. They had a "buffet" available 24/7 with the makings for coffee, tea, oatmeal, popcorn...even beer and coke in the fridge! They even offered (and did) our laundry for us while we were out sightseeing. Breakfast consisted of beautiful tropical fruit and warm breads (English muffins, biscuits,),juice, and coffee. The town of... More

My girlfriend and I arrived on the big Island over one hour late (thank you Hawaiian Airlines). The staff at Tara Firma were extremely accommodating and understanding, even though we got there fairly late on a Friday night. We had the orchid suite, and both of us remarked on how absolutely spotless the room and bathroom were. Even my girlfriend... More
