Kate's cottages are wonderful and have everything like home. We also love the lush garden and lanai for a rest. Owner Kathryn is so thoughtful in all details. Her high standard in the supplies - organic cereals, fair trade products, beautiful tea set and pottery bowls. I like Kathryn cares about ecosystem, she even put a compost bin in each... More

We stayed for two nights at Kahi Malu and one of our biggest regrets from our trip to Hawaii is that we didn't get to stay here longer! The rooms exceeded our expectations and Kathryn was a fantastic host. She is passionate about the island and we loved learning from her about the geography, geology, animals, plants, history, and language.... More

A big thankyou to Kathryn who has provided us with a home away from home in the rainforest. In the bungalow there is everything you will need . My husband and I spent 7 days here to thoroughly explore Volcano National Park. We couldn't have choosen a better place to stay, it is 5 minutes from the gates of the... More

My family and I stayed at Kate's Cottage for two nights during a week-long trip to the Big Island in early April and absolutely loved it. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The cottage is tucked away in a very quiet, private location surrounded by lush rainforest. Inside, there is everything that you could possibly want or... More

My husband and I spent 4 nights at Kates Cottage and have nothing but positives to say. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and private. The kitchen was stocked with all kinds of breakfast cereal, a choice of coffees, and basic cooking supplies if you chose to cook there. And we were greeted by a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts!... More

Kathryn was an attentive host and explained the intricacies of Nohea so that we would be comfortable during our stay. The cottage is beautiful with open beam ceilings and beautiful trim detail, and we could tell that it was built with skill and pride. The location is quiet and private down a gravel driveway. We enjoyed breakfast on the back... More

We stayed here for 3 days as part of our whole 7 day trip on the Big Island. From my initial contact w/ Kathryn, she was great to deal with. She was quick and responsive with her emails (aside from the final confirmation not coming till the week of our trip) and the information she included in her email was... More

My husband and I stayed in Kate's Volcano Cottage for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. We loved the inn and were so glad we stayed there! It is more remote than I had anticipated, but this simply added to the peace and relaxation we experienced. KVC had all of the amenities we needed--it was extremely helpful to have... More

We stayed in Kate's Volcano Cottage and were very pleased. The Cottage is large and includes a small kitchen which allowed us to fix a simple meal from items purchased in Hilo. It is nestled in the rain forest but we didn't get much chance to enjoy the outside since it was raining during most of our visit. I guess... More
