My wife and I recently spent 4 nights here at cottage 44 which is the converted water cistern tank. After reading some of the past reviews, we had high expectations. We were also coming from another B&B on the island were we gave it an outstanding review, so 44 was going to be hard to live up to thoughts. The... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave us with your feedback. It was a pleasure to host you and your wife last month. We’re glad you liked our gorgeous, gardened estate and convenient location near to the Volcano National Park. However, we’re sorry to hear you were less than impressed with Cottage 44. We understand that everyone has a... More

Our cottage, booked late, was not one of the fanciest, but quite comfortable and charming. Sounds did carry from room above, but not much of a problem for us being very tired after hiking all day. Simple but lovely in-room breakfast. Unlike some other Volcano properties, where rain water is collected, they do not give separate purified water for drinking,... More

Thank you for the positive review. We’re glad we could provide a healthy breakfast to begin your day exploring the Volcano National Park, and also a cozy place for you to rest once done! We appreciate you recommending our estate as a beautiful landmark in the area— we do not take your compliments lightly. All of the buildings were built... More

Terrific location near the volcanoes park entrance. We stayed at Cottage 44 which was a creatively decorated/designed water catchment tank morphed into a cozy cottage. A gas fireplace warmed the place nicely in the evening though the bathroom stayed chilly. Three bones of contention: 1) jacuzzi bath is advertised and nicely finished....don't plan on taking a bath though. Warm water... More

My husband and I live in Kona and wanted to get away from the heat for the holiday. Because of his job, we were only going to be able to escape for one night, that being Christmas Eve. We love Volcano and stay there a few times a year, but the place we normally stay was already booked. I found... More

Had a lovely stay at the Hale Ohia Cottages. The cottages are beautiful, fresh banana bread for breakfast with fruit and coffee, and the grounds very well maintained as well. Would highly recommend. More

The Hale Lehua cottage behind the main house is quite private with only the front facing an open area. We stayed there two nights. The small front porch has a table where you can have breakfast, not really possible to comfortably eat inside anyway, we had both our breakfasts outside even though it was drizzling and on the cold side... Thank you for your detailed review of the Hale Lehua Cottage, and for staying with us during your vacation to Hawaii. I'm glad you enjoyed the small patio for your meals. It can be on the chilly side in November; since we are in the forest, the temperature outdoors is typically 10-20 degrees cooler than that on the coast. That's... More

Our cabin at this property was a real gem in the woods. We stayed in cabin 44 which has a round bedroom with a king-sized bed, skylight and a doublesided fireplace which also faces the living area. We ate our breakfast of fresh mangos and homemade nut bread on our lanai every morning and just enjoyed being in the forest.... More

We stayed in the Master Suite in the main house, and it was absolutely fine. Nice bed, right in the window (very public if you had the blinds open). Bathroom very comfortable, and you can do anything in there with the window open and not be overlooked. Only downside was the breakfast. The bread is lovely, but the fruitjuice is... More

Max, Thank you for the review. It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay back in March and that you found the Master Suite pleasant, clean and comfortable. I'm glad you enjoyed the homemade bread for breakfast, but am sorry you did not like the fruit juice. Alternatively, most people find the coffee very nice. Actually we do take Visa... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Hale Ohia Cottage. Mike was super and was available for restaurant suggestions (not many great restaurants in volcano) and tips. He directed us to the Glow that was never mentioned in any of our guide books. The fresh fruit and homemade bread was a treat. Our room had a fire place and was... More

Debbie, thank you for the kind review. It's great to know you enjoyed your stay with us in August. I'm glad I was helpful in suggesting restaurants and other attractions, aside from the obvious and beautiful Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Thank you for your compliments on the cozy room and fresh breakfast. Dixon says hello! We both hope to welcome... More
