Hedonisia is not your usual hostel accommodation; no crowded bunk rooms, and right in the middle of a rainforest! It can be a bit noisy at night, but not with any traffic noise - just lots of frog and gecko calls and the odd rustle if a pig wanders through (don't worry there is no danger from them). I thoroughly... More

This is a really cool place if you're not looking for a luxury accommodation -- that's not an insult! It's meant to say that it's an eco-lodge and meant for a certain mind-set. We stayed in Ocean View and it was great. Comfy, private, roomy enough to unpack. The shared kitchen works out just fine; same for shared bathroom facilities.... More

This hostel was a bit of a surprise, as we didn't expect it to be quite as "eco" as it described, but it was nice. The people were great, and the hostel itself met all our needs. You need a car rental to get places, but I think that goes with all the hotels on the Big Island.

I meant to write this review 3 years ago when I visited (July 2008) but I had some PC issues at the time so it never actually uploaded. I am going back this year so have decided to write one now! So then, Hedonisia, well... certainly one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life! Utterly charming! Mojo the owner... More

I was there with my sister and parents because i read some reviews and thought we should give it a try. Like other people already mentioned it's not for everybody! We stayed at guava hut and bamboo hut and we liked both. The beds are fine, i don't know if it's clean because you don't really sleep in a bed... More

I stayed here with some friends from Kona, the other side of the island and was totally blown away by this hidden paradise. The shower and toilet both are "open air" so even though they are private, they overlook a lush hillside with flowers. Best shower I've ever taken in my life, hands down, and they make sure to use... Where else can you sleep in a school bus, use an outdoor toilet, or meet the grooviest people in the world? Our stay at Hedonisia was like nothing we’ve ever experienced. The place is built on an old cleaned up junkyard, and so many of the living spaces incorporate found “junk,” like the Oceanview Hut, where we stayed, which has... More
