The house itself is very clean and homey, and my room was nicely decorated, with a very comfortable bed, a spotless and modern bathroom, and its own garden-like patio. Breakfast was delicious, and I met some interesting fellow travelers - too bad I had to leave so soon! The owners were friendly, very kind and helpful. I stayed here just... More

We stayed here for 2 weeks - loved the location and staying away from the condoland type of stay. Very close to some excellent beaches and what became our favorite seafood restaurant - the Kawaihae Seafood Bar. Loved being close to the ocean and in a community. Our room was comfortable, the hosts were friendly, we met interesting guests over... More

The room was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was fine, but only one of the two owners was at all helpful. We felt they weren't really interested in having guests. There is a 'for sale' sign in the driveway. Maybe they're burnt out. It felt that way.

A quiet, affordable, cozy place on the Kohala coast. A much better alternative to the big, expensive resorts. A quick drive to area beaches and restaurants. Friendly hosts, good breakfasts. Great for couples or singles.

I booked this B&B to be further north than the regular hotels in Kona, closer to the ocean, and without having to take out a loan to stay at the area resorts. Breakfast was great and the hosts were very friendly and informative about the area. Out of all my Big Island vacations, I have never seen the Kohala Coast... More

My husband & I stayed here 3 nights - and were indeed very pleased. Had flown to Kona, Big Island to attend our son's wedding near by. Lovely landscaped grounds, our room had it's own entrance, soothing Hawaian music very softly played through out the home. Our hosts were most pleasant & kindly agreed to allow us to bring 4... More

We chose to stay at Puako B&B because of its reviews and proximity to beaches we wanted to explore. We were delighted by the many small touches that made us feel truly welcomed and comfortable, both in our room and in the shared areas. Tasty breakfasts, and lots of caring attention paid to us by Kelly, our host. Beautiful landscaping... More

Puako B&B is a relaxing, close-to-the-beach, slice of Hawaii. I had not been to Hawaii for 37 years, and am usually a large-chain-hotel type of client. Staying here was perfect for a single traveler, and the couples I met were very happy there also. The rooms are tastefully decorated, with in-room A/C units so you can chose to use it... More

It has been 10 years since our last trip to the Big Island and we were dismayed by the growth in commercialism and the mega resorts. Puako B&B was a pleasant surprise and a glimpse of a rapidly disappearing Hawaii. Located in a little quiet little village off the main highway, the property is located close to some of the... More

After 5 days at Kona's Four Seasons Resort, I checked into Puako which was filled with a homeful of new and interesting friends. It was overbooked. But Punahele, my excellent host provided a next-door space that was larger than what I had reserved and at no additional cost. He was an ideal host and could not have been more accommodating,...
