Outstanding views, loads of facilities in the studios, lovely grounds and really comfortable bed, View from the hot tub and full balcony was amazing. Never closed the blinds viewed sunrise over the valley. Couldn't have asked for a better place to end our Hawaiian Vacation. Would love to go back 100% recommended. It is a quiet location and you have... More

We were so delighted at the change in management ,and the updated appearance in all the cottages that we just had to write a review commending everyone. Our new hosts,Anne and Donna were ultra friendly and helpful, and they have gotten the units in tip-top shape. What a treat to be nestled in the middle of a sleepy Hawaiian village... More

Lovely, well appointed cottages with stunning views of the Waipio Valley. We had a hot soaking tub on the deck and you could pick the fruit off the trees. Our friendly hostesses were very helpful when we needed them and respected our privacy when we didn't. Very convenient to the entrance of the valley and only a few miles from... More

We stayed here during Spring Break with our 3 young kids in the 2 bedroom cottage. The views are breathtaking from the balcony and there is nothing like watching the sun come up over Waipio Valley. We traveled with a 3, 6, and 13 year old and they all found plenty to keep them busy during our stay. The orchard... More

I recently stayed at this lovely place and had a marvelous time. The view is stunning, peaceful and quiet. Sarah, the proprietor is gracious and welcoming. I found the accommodations immaculate & well maintained. This is the tropics so for those who can't stand the thought of insects - stay home. More

We stayed 4 nights at Hale Kukui's 2-bedroom guest unit in March '08. One morning over coffee on the lanai I thought about the Nov. '07 Trip Advisor review which quite forcefully put down Hale Kukui. There is such a big difference between those who want all the ameneities of a resort and those who wish to experience a 'homey'... More

My husband and I live on the Big Island and have made Hale Kukui Orchard Retreat our special get away destination. Our favorite unit is the Cottage, where the views of, Waipio Valley and the N. Kohala coast are breathtaking! The entire view is on display anywhere you are in the unit and lanai. The Cottage has it all. Beautiful... More

For those people who believe Hawaii is all about tourism, crowded hotels, swimming with dolphins, and drinks on the beach, please be advised that this "hale" (Hawaiian for Home) is probably not going to be the place for you. If instead you desire to see the true roots of Hawaii, the people, the beauty, and the nature of the islands... More

We loved the view from the deck. We did not the like ants that seemed to find whatever food you had. The hot tub was disappointing as it was just a large bathtub with no jets. Sliding patio doors on two sides were great for fresh air and view. We stayed in the studio and had our own private deck... More
