My wife and I stayed at a number of B&Bs during our trip to the Big Island and the Old Hawaiian was the least impressive. It didn't help that it is an absolute nightmare to find the place! We spent about 3 hours driving around Hilo trying to find it! Maybe it's just us, but we didn't find the host... more

A surprise 3-room B&B in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood near the Hilo hospital. Lori and Stewart have thought of everything you have forgotten: umbrellas, bug spray (the east side of the island is the wet & mosquito-friendly one), flashlights, guidebooks, beach towels, plates/utensils, etc. We needed a chopping board and knife to cut a mango and got one in... more

We stayed for a couple of nights in the sunrise room and really liked it. The room is of comfortable size with lots of windows and light. The flip side of having many windows is the reduced privacy. The neighborhood is very quite and noise travels easily. Given that there are no air-conditioners (you don't really miss them), we were... more

We arrived here on sunday. Lory was not at home, but her husband Stewart was here to greet us. He told us all about the B&B amenities and never seen he again. Oh, they have a nice dog and a nice cat! :-) Our room was the Hawaiian Room, which is the biggest one. I can't say more about the... more

The Old Hawaiian B&B is one of our fondests memories from our holiday. Lory & Stewart were wonderful hosts. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfasts were awesome. Lory made fruit smoothies, muffins and banana bread, and there was plenty of fresh fruit from her backyard to boost! She was very happy to chat to us over breakfast, and... more

My husband and I stayed in the Hawaiian room for two nights. We don't usually stay in b&bs, but none of the Hilo hotels looked particularly nice, and we wanted a couple nights on the Hilo side to make visiting Volcanoes National Park more convenient. It worked out really well. The Old Hawaiian B&B was perfect for our needs -... more

We stayed in the Old Hawaiian room for 3 wonderful days in May 2009. The room was very large and comfortable, lots of windows plus ceiling fan; but be mindful, that there is no air conditioning. The web pictures of the garden and grounds do not do justice to the beauty of the yard. Lori’s breakfasts are more than ample... more

We stayed in the Old Hawaiian room, which is very large, very nicely furnished, and has a good attached bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and everything spotlessly clean. The B&B rooms are at the back of the house, and give onto the beautiful tropical gardens which produce some of the fruit you'll eat for breakfast. The hostess, Lorrie, makes... more

We loved our stay with Lori and her family, including the very shy watchdog. Hilo is a very good spot to travel along the east coast of Big Island (Volcano´s National Park, Lava Flow, Hot Spring and Snorkeling). Lori was very helpul in planning our trips, she provided us with torches (to reach the lava flow spot at night), maps,... more

Wonderful B&B located in a beautifully renovated bungalow along the river. Lots of fruit trees and tropical flowers in the garden. The room was beautiful with comfy beds. Beware that there is no air conditioning and the bathrooms in the two smaller rooms were an addition and do not have full floor to ceiling walls which limit privacy. We were... more
