“Good place to stay on a budget”

Great location - 10 minutes from the Airport. Great tours - I went on the Mauna Kea tour and it was excellent. They also recommended a tour for the lava hike and it was totally worth it. I had booked a shared lockable room. I got lucky and didn't have to share with anyone. So it worked out pretty good... More

“Great place to stay”

Stayed at Arnotts for 4 days in April '13 Great spot to stay, good for downtown Hilo and all the attractions around there. From waterfalls to lavatubes and farmers market. You feel as though you are miles from town and the beach is a 5 min walk - great way to wake up on the morning :-)

“Nice people, great value!”

Just as warm and friendly as the first time I visited, 17 years ago! Staff are great, the kitchen was clean and stocked as expected for hostel-type accommodations. I'm glad that Doug's operations have expanded to include more tours with more vans, which remain great value!

“perfect break from busy Honolulu”

after spending 3 days in hectic Honolulu, this was such an amazing break, relax, beach 1 block away, a few beers in a nice place. Very nice. The bathroom was far better than usual hostels. And the reception girls were really kind and most helpful

“Clean room, great value”

We had a nice stay here. We needed a room on hilo side for one night to see volcano at night. Staff was very friendly and room was economical and clean. This is a "no frills" establishment, but was comfortable. I would stay here again.
