I was travelling alone with a moderate budget, and this was the perfect place for me! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the tours they offer all seemed great -I only tried the Mauna Kea tour and it was amazing! - and compared to the others their prices were by far the best. The rooms are very clean, you... More

It's so nice to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and it was a pleasure getting to know you. Yes, the turtles are a sight to see. I'm always amazed when I see them. Aloha to you in... More

We spent lovely few days (and nights) at Arnott's during the honeymoon and really enjoyed it. The weather was beautiful and we didn't even sleep in tents every night. Thank you :) More

Aloha and Mahalo for reviewing Arnott's Lodge. Our location is further from downtown although we have bikes available for rent and our $1 bus system that takes you to downtown or the mall. We are within walking distance to famous beaches along the coast and away from the commercial zone. Our friendly staff continue to strive to make you feel... More

I am used to youth hostels all over the world. This hostel is friendly, clean, and quiet. I stayed in on of the "deluxe rooms" in August 2011 to bring my daughter to college. It was perfect for us. No complaints at all. The bunk rooms looked clean and the staff was very friendly. Will stay there again when we... More

I stayed at this place in Jan., 2009 for my first trip to Hawaii. (I am planning another trip to Big islands and Maui for this Xmas and looking for reviews here.) Room was a little small, but considering the cheap price, it is acceptable. They have several great tours. I joined the Mauna Kea and vacano one. Both of... More

We stayed at Arnott's twice in our visit to the Big Island, both times to see Mauna Kea Summit through the tour they offered. We were there in November 2011, the rainy season in Hilo. Since the tour picks up at 2pm and drops you off at 9pm, we really did not want to be driving at night , in... More

Aloha and Mahalo for your review. I'm glad your second trip to Mauna Kea was better than the first. Part of the perks in staying with Arnott's Lodge are the discounted tours. We hope to see you here again soon. More

Note readers as long as post is displayed. Current reviews are all positive. 6-7 years old suck. Excellent value for money in Hawaii. My style: budget dorm or single room shared facilities. I am 69 years old backpacker/"adventurer". Bed $28. Some semiprivate rooms in dorm area $35 for 1 person. Tenting $10. Dorm: beds single soft enough, clean linen, room... More

My family and I stayed at Arnott's on the last leg of our trip to the Big Island. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. We took rooms 6 and 1 which are part of the deluxe building. The rooms were clean, comfortable and bright. Our rooms had sliding glass doors that opened onto a nice little grass... More

Very fun place, everyone was very nice and polite, the room was great, a bit small, but for a budget vacation and off the beaten path experience, it's got everything what it needs. More
