This is an amazing place !! This was my third stay at A Beautiful Edge of the World and I'm sure it won't be my last. The hosts are great -- friendly, informative, and helpful (they even do laundry for people who stay three days or more, free of charge !). The rooms are comfortable and spotless. There are a... More

This is our second time staying with Kurt and Kana at Beautiful Edge and we'll stay with them every time we visit Hawaii. It's a spectacular location at the South end of Captain Cook overlooking the bay from a perfect deck to watch the sunsets. It's away from the tourist hubub of Kona, but an easy drive to any of... My wife and I have been to The Edge 2 years in a row. Not only are the owners/family superb hosts but you cannot duplicate the view. If you are looking for activities or just relaxation, I recommend this B&B without hesitation. It may be the only place we will stay whenever we go back to the Big Island. More

Great to see you again, and thank you for your kind words. While it's nice (for us) to meet new people from around the world, it's especially nice to catch up with the lives of former guests. It's like seeing old friends again. In fact, that's exactly what it is. Mahalo ! More

Clean, nice people, really good food, lovely view, but a bit off the beaten track (you have to drive down a cliff through a jungle to get there!). But highly recommended. More

Nice review, but I'm afraid that the words "cliff" and "jungle" are misleading and may unnecessarily scare many folks away. Here's the facts -- There's a highway from the Kona Airport to two tenths of a mile from our B&B. (It takes twenty to twenty five minutes.) From the highway there is a county road leading to the Edge. Because... More

My wife and I recently spent six days (April 5 – 11), at “the Edge of the World B & B in Kailua-Kona Hawaii. While there we stayed in the Pacific room that had a spectacular view from our lanai of the Pacific Ocean. Each morning we were served a lovely breakfast by our “substitute” hosts Karen & Keith (the... More

Thank you for your review. I spoke with the interim manager about this (he has hence moved back to Florida). In his opinion it is an extreme exaggeration perhaps sparked by personality clash.. (We've never had a complaint of this nature, and the review surprised me.). We (owner/manager) have returned from our extended stay in China and Cambodia and I... More

The property is situated on a working coffee plantation studded with mac nut trees, papayas, bananas and other fruits and veggies. Needless to say, the coffee each day was wonderful. We stayed in a room called the "Crow's Nest", with its private lanai overlooking the plantation and Kealakekua Bay 1,000 feet below. The room was spacious and clean and well... More

I've learnt more in the 4 for days spent here than in the whole 3 weeks Hawaii vacation. Learnt about Capt. Cook (I borrowed a book from the B&B shelf), had interesting conversations with the other guests, learnt about the island, the plants, and Kurt's (the owner) background through the book he left in our room (the small&cozy Nut room).... Following Kurt's detailed directions down a couple of narrow roads from the Big Island's belt road, you leave the cares of touring behind and arrive at the home of friends - friends you didn't know you had. Kana and daughter Jenna welcomed me in the afternoon and showed where to park. Kurt and fellow gentleman farmers are discussing coffee and... More

What a truly perfect place. Its only 30 minutes from Kona and a few minutes (drive) from the beach. Absolutely perfect in all ways. (Although, I would put a curtain on the skylight, I can imagine the sun waking me up in the summer :) ) The location also make sit great to visit the volcano, the lava, observatory and... More
