It's old, and not in a charming kind of way. The floor I was on (3rd) smelled like smoke. I was in a non-smoking room. The traffic was loud. Cigarette burns on floor. Semi-clean bathroom. All of the above I could tolerate, but no hot water is a deal breaker. I let it run for 30m. A waste of water,... More

The Plains is a very dark and dingey hotel that has an odd stench. The photos shown online make the hotel seem much more appealing than it is. The hallways to the rooms are dark and eerie; pipes run acrossed the ceilings. Thank goodness, I only have to spend a night here. This hotel does not give off good vibes.... More

In operating a Historic Hotel you try and balance accommodations standards of the 21 century and the Historic nature of the building. When remodelled in 2006, the hotel was retrofitted with a fire sprinkler system. These are the pipes in the hallways and guest rooms. They also choose light fixtures and carpeting to convey the feeling of the early 1900's.... More

This is the WORST hotel I've ever stayed at and I travel weekly for business. I have stayed in hostels nicer than my room. To run down the list of the room details: - Paint is peeling from my wall; it's all over the floor - Found hair in the bathroom - Window is broken - Dust/Mold/Mildew is so bad... More

I completely agree with you. You were ripped off. I will be sending you a full refund for your stay at The Historic Plains Hotel. My staff made a mistake and sold you a DNR (do not rent) room. I cannot apologize enough for our mistake and ruining your stay in Cheyenne. If you wouldn't mind, I would like to... More

Had to travel to Cheyenne, Wyoming recently on business and decided to take a chance on The Plains Hotel. I'm glad that I did. The hotel more than met my expectations. The hotel was located in the heart of downtown, only six blocks from my meeting. I was able to walk to and from my meeting with ease. The location... More

We got it for less off-site and had to pay $27 extra for the dog (only $5 more than their price once we outsourced). Yes, we were moving cross-country. Nice, small, quiet room. We ordered in and my sandwich was fine but I was sick so didn't eat much. Husband had chicken-fried steak which was good in his mind. The... More

I had not been to the Plains hotel before. I was in for a real treat. The Staff is amazing. They were there at every turn and always pleasant! We arrived early and our rooms were not ready. The staff stored our luggage and we had a very late breakfast in the cafe. The food was great, the plates were... More

I will keep this brief. Building has history and the staff were pleasant. But the room they had me in at least had no windows. Felt very confined and claustrophobic. There is no parking. The bathrooms and tv's are very outdated. The restaurant is average and typically pricey for hotel restaurants. (they actually charged full price for each coffee refill)... More

I read all the reviews on the Plains nd I love historical hotels so I went my and saw it before we checked in. It was more than we expected and we had a fun time with the staff the four days we were there. My daughter is involved in the 4H and we held our convention there we could... More

I hate to give this hotel a bad review because i love historic hotels. But it's sadly not a 3 star room. The lobby is great and the cowboy theme everywhere is charming. Staff were wonderful. But the bed was old and uncomfortable, and there wasn't much hot water for my shower. Still, it wasn't terrible, and I'd probably stay... More

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. Our room was small but charming although the bath and tile could have done with updating. We liked that they allow dogs, although I think $25 a bit high if the dog is well behaved and doesn't 'shed' all over the place. On the first night we decided to have a drink at... More
