The hotel is beautiful and a great location if you’re looking for something a bit more remote. If you don’t rent a car you’re going to be confined to the property and immediate area, but if you do there a number of great beaches and towns within an hour. The downsides of the hotel is that the food is pricey and not especially good (fine, but not great), and the service is quite slow. That said, it’s a great place and I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is very isolated and the surrounding roads are awful. The hotel has beautiful views looking down towards the sea. The infinity pool is lovely and the public areas well set out. Our room was very spacious with a garden and hammock in it and views across trees to the sea. The bed was one of the comfiest I have slept in and pillows were super too. There was a fridge and coffee machine and 4 coffee pods supplied most days. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the shower with a view. Cleaning was a bit haphazard - our shoes were never moved and sometimes the covers on the bed just thrown up. There wasn't enough surface space to place articles on. There was only one bedside light. The TV had only 2 English speaking channels - it would have nee nice to have HBO. The beach area was lovely, but I found the sunbeds very uncomfortable and why does there have to be loud boom boom music on. I'd much rather listen to the sea and wildlife. On request the volume was turned down. The beach was quite stony. The beach at Carillo is much nicer - half an hours drive. There are lots of activities - most of them at a cost. The food was ridiculously expensive and pretentious! At dinner one night, I had 5 shrimps served on small circles of mashed potatoes and a piece of watercress! My husband had beef and baked potatoes - what arrives was a few small slices of beef and a few small potatoes. These portions should have been starters. Breakfast was $20. Needless to say, we ate at other restaurants. The food at the beach was more reasonably priced and better sized portions. For the price we paid for the hotel, breakfast should have been included - when we asked our travel agent how much to have this - we were told £700 for 2 people for one week!!!!!

I’m at a loss for words to describe this place. It’s beyond beautiful. Ocean, mountain-side views, crisp breeze, clean tasty food, lovely people, it’s the most beautiful spot I’ve ever visited. The staff here was wonderful, took great care of our family, including my small daughter & son with special needs. I want to give a special shout-out to Narron for being our horseback & zip-line guide, being some attentive the kids’ needs/care. I also really loved Margarita, she was so chill & friendly. At the concierge desk, you couldn’t ask for better service from Joe, Joseph, Valeria, & Jorge. Felipe, Kervin, & Gerald kept us well-hydrated & fed. Don’t *think* about going here, GO! It’s worth the drive from the airport. Once you arrive you’ll be secluded, amazed, relaxed, & given a new lease on life!

Lovely resort in the Green zone on Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. The staff was amazing, setting was other worldly and food pretty good. We had a suite with privacy as well as ocean views. There was our own plunge pool in addition to the infinity pool at the restaurant and one at the beach (which is also top notch). It’s built on the side of the mountain, so walks involve lots of hills, but shuttle service is available within the resort, as well as into town. Many excursions are offered taking full advantage of the wonderful natural environment, some of which are complementary, although most have a fee. We had a car (it’s about 3 hours from the Liberia airport , the last 10 of which are on unsaved roads), but it’s really not necessary. I would characterize the resort as rustic lux and very organic. It’s suitable for all age groups, including children.

The Punta Islita Hotel is a true paradise - settled on a mountain with beautiful ocean views - it has everything you would want from a relaxing beach vacation - infinity pool, outdoor / open-feel restaurant, beach club with so many ocean sports, amazing flavorful and healthy food, and lots of wildlife hikes organized by the hotel (an hour hike and you can see hauler monkeys, iguanas, exotic birds, etc.). We had a really fun New Years celebration at the hotel - with great food and dancing on the beach. The hotel staff deserves special recognition - they make the environment even more pleasant and relaxing. Jacob and Antonio, on the restaurant staff, were able to make our breakfasts and dinners special - they were so helpful and accommodating and made us feel welcome. Truly a top-notch hotel with 5-star service!

We booked 3 bedroom villa and they gave us 1 bedroom out the villa. No toiletries in the room, one AC was not working and others remote were broken. They are over rated, don’t waste your precious vacation days here. There are many better options in Guanacaste. This place is outdated. ***this place is not worth if driving 10 KM on a dirt road.

I was very impressed with the staff. Margerita is multitalented and does it with a smile. I wish she could come to New Jersey to work in my office. Mario was awesome at the beach. Joe also incredible. The bartenders, waiters, and staff were all sooo nice and awesome. The bellmen and drivers are also attentive and caring. My wife and I spent a week and enjoyed it all. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with pool and insane view of the ocean and greenery. We did horseback, kayak, candle making, cooking class, monkey tour, and myxology. All were well orchestrated and fun. Food is good, somewhat inconsistent. Drinks were great. Swim up bar at the beach is great. Be prepared to walk up steep steps. Safe and not bad but not for everyone. The shuttle is always available with wonderful drivers if needed. We need diverse crowd that all seemed happy with their stay. We did lose power one night which lasted 8 hours. Management was appropriately very apologetic. Ml I would recommend higly.

This place is amazing! Especially the people and the service. The team is very accommodating and they go out of their way to make your stay better. ie: My friend was sick and they made special tea for her and made soup (that wasn’t on the menu). Another instinct was when we were on the dusk hike, I mentioned to Jorge that I was looking for a sprouted coconut and the next day he found one and gave it to me. Honestly, what an amazing staff! Couldn’t be happier that I chose this place to spend my birthday. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended!

This resort is outstanding. Service is top notch, the beds are comfy, the breakfast is fantastic, and the views are out of this world. The people who are complaining about this place are being super nit picky. You get the feeling you are in a rustic Costa Rican vibe, with the luxuries of a 5 star hotel. Love how remote it is, and the walk up and down to the beach is a perfect workout. It only takes about 5 mins if you want to run up the stairs, otherwise 10 mins at a walking pace. There are 2 water stations near the top with incredible views, so its worth the effort. The best restaurant near the resort was
