My husband had always wanted to do the bunker tour, and my grandfather worked for the C&O Railroad so my grandparents visited the Greenbrier annually for years and always raved about it - so we decided to take advantage of an off-season sale, and spend a couple of nights mid-week. It really is a spectacular building, and is truly like... More

I hadn't been to the Greenbrier in decades, and didn't know what to expect when I returned in January 2012 now that the casino is open, and I will have to say that the experience was outstanding. From the moment of my arrival in White Sulphur Springs, via Amtrak, to my departure a couple days later, the whole hotel experience... More

We are world travelers and spend time in many luxury hotels - think Vienna Imperial, Sidney Shangri La, Geneva Hotel DeAngleterre - and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Greenbrier. Remembering that it is a southern resort, it measures up handsomely. Bring there in the dead of winter, we were looking only for a little R&R, and found a... More

what the somewhat negative reviews fail to mention about the greenbrier having closed a few restaurants for the off season and the changed hours for attractions is the price difference they paid. a stay typically runs from $350 a night and up, and these people (including myself) were paying $59 or $79 for a night. when you're only paying a... I'm kicking myself for not heeding the many reviews warning me this resort is basically closed down with a skeleton staff in February. At the famous Greenbrier? At these prices? The reviewer must be picky or is thinking outdoor activity which will naturally close in winter. I will never ignore a review again. We pulled up to the beaufiful property... More

We visited for a long weekend and everything was top-notch. The food, golf, tour were all pricy, but that was expected from the outset. The rooms are a bit dated, but that's also what I had heard and expected and frankly adds to the charm. We bowled, took in a movie, ate and relaxed. It was a great time. More

Being a West Virginian, I had always wanted to stay at The Greenbrier. I've been a resident of Florida for the last 42 years. The resort went beyond expectations. The grounds, history, decor, staff, food and beverage, activities, shopping are supurb for individuals, couples or families. My husband and I enjoyed every moment. I can't wait to return and share... We were there the end of January, 2012. The cuts in staff were evident. One restaurant, Prime 44, was open for dinner. The service was fair at best, and the food was horrible. Drapers for lunch was good as was the dining room for breakfast. The Muppets, as the featured movie, didn't seem to excite too many of the gray... More

In an era of technology and modern rush, it is so special to find a place where time has stopped. From the first encounter with smiling Mr.Frank Mosley (47 years at Greenbrier) at the main entrance to tea served by Dorris (only 43 years at the Old White) while Chopin is being performed at 4 pm this is an enchanted... If you have never been to The Greenbier, then you will probably love it. It is beautiful and the employees will bend over backwards to meet your needs. But, if you have been there before and experienced the wonderful southern hospitality, it no longer exists, expecially during the weekdays in the winter season - movies, cookies during tea, turn down...
