I have been coming to the town of Port Townsend,WA since I was a kid and know some of it's charm and small town appeal. But the one night my wife and I spent in The Commanders Beach house was truly memorable. Neither of us had ever stayed in a bed and breakfast before so we weren't totally sure how... More

I over-nighted at the Commander's Beach House in January, 2012 and found the accommodations to be great. The room was bright, clean and toasty-warm. The breakfast was yummy and the owners most congenial. I'd stay there again. It's right on the waterfront and very close to the downtown area. More

I will for sure return to this wonderful get-a-way! Very homey vibe. Jim & Gale are wonderful hosts. The place was clean, warm and in a beautiful setting. You can hear the sound of waves from anywhere in the house...which I loved! More

We decided to do a 'getaway' to Port Townsend for Thanksgiving since our kids had other plans with friends. We had stayed at The Commander's B+B once before and decided to go back. Luckily they had one room left. It's one of the few B+Bs we've stayed at where it seems as if you can really make yourselves at home... More

Jim, Gail and "Captain Cutter" made us feel right at home. We are definitely hooked on Gail's delicious breakfasts! Our room was clean and cozy with a beautiful view of the water. We were even lucky enough to have a full moon. The location is perfect for walking to restaurants and shops downtown. Gail and Jim gave us great recommendations... More

Jim and Gail are the most incredible hosts! They are so warm and welcoming that it really feels like you are staying with friends and by the end of our stay, that is what they are. We are fortunate that they had a room available. The house has a great history and even though there were other guests, it was... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in early September. We stayed in the Island View room and loved it! The view of the ocean from our room was great and we were lucky to catch one incredible sunrise from there as well. The room, as well as the rest of the house, was very comfy and inviting.... More

On a whim we decided to take a few days off last week to recharge the batteries. Luckily The Commander's Beach House had an opening for two of the three evenings we would be in Port Townsend. The house is perfectly located, a short walk to shops and restaurants, AND right on the beach away, backs turned on the town... More

Recently stayed for 4 relaxing nights with our two teenage daughters. Location is great, right on the beach overlooking Whidby island and Mt. Baker, an easy walk to town. Jim and Gail were about as accomodating as you could be. Quick to offer up something to eat or drink or to suggest things to do, restaurants etc. The rooms were... More
