There is only one problem with this campground, THE TRAINS! They are so close to some of the sites that your camper will literally shake. And the noise can be deafening. They also run all hours of the day and night. So, with that said, this is a very clean campground, and well-maintained. And the staff are superior. They took... More

This campground was so clean and well maintained. The workers were more than polite and helpful. I actually enjoyed the train passing through and would recomend this place for anyone who wants to be close to all attractions.

We never dreamed we would be sleeping so close to an active train track. If one had derailed we would be dead. Don't understand why anyone would put a camp ground, the tenters no less 10 feet from the tracks. No sleep to be had here. Bathrooms clean.

The family owned Anvil campground is great for someone without a trailing car. There is a bus for $2 a person (all day transit) that will take you to the 'central hub'. From there you can easily and quickly transfer to the next line to take you to the historic sites. The owner Ray was very helpful to us as... More

We decided to take off on a long family weekend over Halloween and wanted to visit Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Location wise, this was pretty good but that is where it stops. We had read about the train so we asked specifically about it when we made our reservations. The rep told my fiance' that he would put us... More

I stayed here instead of a hotel to prepare for a wedding. It was great! Both cottages were spotless, and there were little touches that made me feel welcome. I had to prepare a meal for a large number of people, as well as get dressed in a gown, and the large, clean areas and fully equipped kitchen made it... More

It's a trade off kids. If you ALL about location and don't care about having a restful stay...then by golly, stay here... if you are tent camping, your tent will be located about 20-30ft from the VERY ACTIVE train tracks. Be prepared for them to come through at least 3 times in the wee hours and shake the crap out... More

We recently stayed at Anvil for a week on a family vacation. The campground is very nice. The sites are small and more suited to large travel trailers or big rigs that don't need much space beyond the camper. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Nice, well stocked store and clean bathrooms with nice showers. Location is great! We... More

We arrived very late so didn!t get a chance to look around since it was already dark out. Staff was very nice, over the phone. We would have appriciate it if they would have told us about the trains.
