When travelling to Charlottesville area, friends recommended this Inn for our lodging. Views of Blue ridge foothills and James River at sunset are extraordinary. The host made us feel as though we were settling in at an old friends home. In combination with the view, quiet solitude and refined rustic characteristics, I would recommend this facility for personal reflection as... More

James River Inn is a place like no other. If you're looking for a traditional bed and breakfast, this is not your place. However, if you're looking for somewhere a short drive from Monticello and Charlottesville that will give you an amazing view, cabin-like lodging and a great host, look no further. We arrived late at night and the host... More

Well, where to begin. The customer service was deplorable. I have never been yelled at before by anyone in customer service and this was obviously an exception. Our party was mislead to believe that the facility was safe. Clearly with just a small turn lock on the door (that anyone could kick in) is not safe. If I wanted to... More

We went for a fun weekend and we didn't even stay the night. There was no security around the building anyone could have just walked into the place at night and the doors and locks to the room were so sad that I could have kicked them in easily. It isn't a bed and breakfast considering that they don't make... More

First, he made you pay in advance which should've have been the first indication. Then he said, "We don't serve breakfast. There is some bagels you can toast. anyone drink coffee?" One member in our party raised her hand and he stated, "Well, then you gonna have to make your own coffee." The TV was from the 70s..no cable. He... More

We were visiting Monticello, so chose to stay here rather than in Charlottesville as a unique get away. It was a bit of a drive -- south from Charlottesville, past Scottsville -- maybe 20 miles total. Nice, scenic drive. It has a Bed and Breakfast type of feel since it's owned and run by an individual rather than a corporation.... More

We were looking for the perfect secluded getaway and hit the jackpot! The location and view are one-of-a-kind, perched on a cliff over the James River. We couldn't tear our eyes away from the stunning vistas, JRI's most prominent feature. However, the facilities are great, the rooms are large and comfortable, the great room and rec rooms are huge, the... More
