We stayed at the Governor Dinwiddie one recent Saturday night. Very nicely appointed, beautiful character in the interior. The front desk clerk when we checked in was extremely friendly and helpful. Extremely. Helped us find a place to eat, told us about a beautiful old house for sale in the area and gave us contact info. Lovely person. The 2... More

First for the good - the room was okay. Not great, but adequate. Air conditioning worked well, and wifi worked surprisingly well. Room wasn't huge, but definitely adequate. Bed was reasonably comfortable. For the price, it is a decent place to stay. Now for the bad. We had to briefly stop at the hotel on the way from a day... More

We are a 60's couple, driving south along the coast from NH down to maybe S. Carolina. We needed to 'meet up' with our friends who were sailing their boat north from S. Carolina. They were docked in Portsmouth, so we needed to find a place near where they were docked. This was an ideal spot. An in-town, older hotel,... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gov. Dinwiddie Hotel. The staff members we met (Denzel and Cindy) were extremely helpful and pleasant. Our room was spacious. The building is not just your run-of-the-mill hotel...it had a lot of character and made our vacation more memorable. More

This historic treasure is a true "Boutique Hotel". Iwas to stay 3 days for business & instead stayed another 2 for the pleasure. My room was so spacious w/ a complete kitchnette, seperate sitting area large super comfortable bed, even the bathroom had a seperate vanity area , with a large tub & sink area . Charming hotel, decently renovated. But neither the air-conditioning nor the internet worked in our room. On a hot southern day, that's madness. And we had to wander around Old Towne to find an internet cafe with wireless. Two thumbs down. More

Very, very accommodating and polite staff. I was in a bit of a pickle and they really helped me out. Hospitality is still alive and well in this day and age! Love the pet-friendly policy, too. Thank you thank you thank you!! More

My boyfriend and I just stayed here for the Labor Weekend. We knew we were saving a lot of money but not staying right in the immediate VA Beach area. The room was only $92 per night and only about 20 minutes away from the beach. The outside looks a bit run down and at first we were thinking, "Oh... More

We always stay at the renaissance when we need a weekend getaway, but they were booked. This hotel came up and the reviews were favorable so we gave it a shot and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean and has been updated and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room (King efficiency) was very clean and... More

Room was clean-floor, bathroom etc.. One of the lights in the bathroom was missing a bulb and one of the lamps in the room was broken. We were on the 7th floor but heard noises from the streets below, mainly people in the pub or restaurants.. Hallway has old, musky smell. More
