Ourselves and another couple stayed at Maes y Derw for two days and had a terrific stay. Great rooms with everything you needed (including extra pillows and a hairdryer!) Great attention to detail everywhere; lovely cooked breakfasts by Katherine. We will definitely return - if only to sample her dinners she will soon be offering. D&N Buckinghamshire more

We stayed for 2 nights with our friends. All 4 of us were immediately impressed by the beautiful appearance of the house and Katherine's warm welcome. The comfortable spacious bedrooms were equipped with carefully chosen old and new furniture and fittings. Terrific fresh breakfast especially the delicious homemade wholemeal bread - we ate a whole loaf each morning! Katherine chose... more

My partner and I (both in our mid-twenties) were travelling around Wales and decided to have the last few days of our trip in luxurious surroundings and we were not disappointed by Maes-y-Derw. The B&B has gorgeous surroundings with greenery and lovely views from every window. Our bedroom was spacious, extremely comfortable, well decorated and had all the modern necessities... more

How many wonderfuls can you get in one sentence. Couldn't find any faults, having stayed here twice. One very slight problem for me personally as I suffer with poor circulation the bedroom could have been a bit warmer, but it wasn't bad enough to bring to attention.. more

There is nothing negative to say about our stay. The house is beautiful in a good location, and Katherine and Carl make great hosts. The food and service were brilliant. Everyone should stay somewhere like this once. more

We spent 4 nights at Maes-y-Derw at the end of our holiday and would have loved to stay longer. Kathryn was very friendly and made us feel relaxed straight away. The house is beautiful - a great sense of history but all mod cons too. Despite thinking I might be a bit anxious about living with antiques I felt very... more

Maes-y Derw has everything you would expect, and more from a five star B&B. The location for visiting this part of South Wales is ideal. Such a warm & friendly welcome, excellent standard of bedroom with a most interesting decor and furniture throughout. The food is all locally sourced and we were set up for the day with a great... more

This was a very relaxed and enjoyable stay. The atmosphere, service, cleanliness, food, indeed every aspect of this establishment is first class. The rooms take you back in time to another age, yet offer all the latest luxuries. A very comfy bed, a good nights sleep and a first class breakfast. Add this to the history, antiquates all over the... more
