Discovered this wonderful, cosy hotel, about ten years ago. Always commence our visit to the Netherlands, by staying at De Fortuna. Comfortable rooms, attractive garden, waterway location, excellent choice of menu. Very helpful, friendly owner, and staff. The perfect package !!

When one of our cycling party needed medical attention they took her to and from hospital, kept her room, arranged onward travel. As well they put on a banquet for us of fabulous food. Fantastic!

Staying at the hotel a little know how to live the Dutch in the same houses. Not the most convenient ladder to lift the suitcase on the first floor. We have stayed at De Fortuna every year for 11 years. It has a super location, nice if not large rooms, friendly and helpful family owners and staff - and an excellent restaurant (you need to be hungry!) We would strongly recommend De Fortuna and Edam for a visit. It's only a few miles from Amsterdam but a world away.... More

We stayed for the second time at the Hotel de Fortuna. Very quiet, comfortable and great views. Since we had a third person with us, we couldn't ask for one of the rooms that face the canal. The stork that was nesting there had moved on also. But it's still a great stay.

We paid hundred euros per night which is not too bad for the amazing room in such a beautiful hotel. The location is perfect, edam as a whole was just perfect. Cobbled streets, a few eateries, an amazing watering hole (Pub), a cheese shop etc. Not too far from Volendam, a fishing village with some amazing restaurants service fresh seafood.... More
