The hotel was very nice and clean. The room was big and comfortable. The location is not in the historic center, but there is a metro station 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. more

We stayed for 5 days at the Melia Gaia Porto - part of the Sol Melia group. I booked direct through their website. My best advice is to sign up for membership - the MAS card. It's completely free, you get preferential rates and most valuable is the 2 for 1 on breakfastsand also, the late check out. We paid... more

Part of the Sol Melia Group, this relatively new concrete block with not particularly inventive and conservative interior design is located north of the river in the suburb of Gaia. Our room was spacious but had some raster nasty looking stains on the carpet. Breakfast buffet was very good, bar staff was helpful. We were unfortunate to get a smokers... more

Went to Oporto on a 3 day get away, and booked this hotel directly. The hotel is a modern business hotel, beutiful lobby, very nice bar, small shopping area to hotel next door. Hotel personel is very good, there are all multi lingual, this help since my portuguese is not very good. This hotel is not on porto center, you... more

4 star hotel at extremely competetive price - can't remember exactly but room only around €60 p/night Rooms are vast - very spacious and comfortable. I was on a very high floor and it gave excellent views of the river and Porto. This is a fairly new, modern hotel and is still very bright, clean and airy. However, maybe it... more

I am West Coast of the U.S. type of person who loves Portugal. I've been to Lisbon many times but decided to venture north to Porto 2 years ago. I hunted around websites and found that the Spanish chain Sol Melia had a new property there. It wasn't in the center but in an adjacent suburb that appeared to have... more

The restaurant does not provies lots of variety or an overwlming wuality... its just normal ... the problem is that in the sorroundings you dont find alternatives to eat in a nice restaurant. The Melia Gaia in Porto is an excellent hotel with friendly attentive staff. It is opposite to old town of Porto across the river on a hill behind the old and famous Port Cellars. It is a modern hotel 4 Star Quality with nice rooms. It has an excellent lounge bar with music on some nights starting at 10pm. with... more

Great staff, excellent service and the hotel should be classified as a 5 star. Hotel amenities bar none and the room was impeccably clean. Wonderful and charismatic staff! Will definitely return to this hotel if ever in Porto in the future. more
