Hotel Douro is a great place to stay, Luis and family are super hosts, lovely location excellent value and Mamas home made jams are a treat at breakfast. Right next to the railway station, river and main street! could not be better positioned. A relaxing and comfortable place to stay. Many thanks Luis, see you next year.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of April. Luis and his family are very friendly and helpful. The town itself is beautiful -- highly recommended! While you're in Pinhao, go see Luis' friend Paolo at his winery: www.dorigem.pt. It's a healthy hike up the hill (or a short 10 minute ride) but you'll be rewarded with amazing... More

No problem finding this place - opposite the charming Pinhao station. It is family run, and the host, Luis, was charming and helpful, suggesting outings and restaurants for the evenings when his mother wasn't cooking! In April the resort is quiet, and the restaurant was not open to the public, so dinner was only prepared on request - even a... More

Stayed for 4 nights (October 18-22, 2012) and loved every moment - our best vacation ever! We had not been back in 10 years to Pinhao and Portugal. Why did it take us so long to return. Everything as we remembered and never dissapointed. Still a lovely family run hotel, Momma cooks the meals - real Portuguese food and at... More

My husband stayed at the Hotel Douro for 2 nights last week and were pleased in every aspect imaginable! I made reservations through their website and within just a couple of hours, I had an email response from the owner giving me all the information I requested. Upon our arrival, Luis met us and showed us the property and took... More

Stayed here last weekend - took 3 rooms for one night and paid Euro 135 including breakfast what value! Met by the owner as we got off the train showed us the rooms etc. and where to go in Pinhao. Its a lovely small village on the river with a very relaxinging feel. When it was time to leave naturally... More

We stumbled across this Hotel by accident, which was recommended by another Restaurant/Hotel in a different town that we had stopped at to eat. All of the staff at the Hotel were so welcoming & obliging, even to the extent of the Doorman moving his car so that we could park our rental car! Rooms are basic but very clean... More

We (family of 3) stayed here 3 nights. I can only agree with most of what's already been said here: beautiful views overlooking the Douro valley, each room seems to overlook the train station, the river and the valley; air-conditioning, WiFi in the rooms, small but comfortable rooms, old family hotel; good breakfast of coffee, juice, bread, ham/cheese, homemade jam,... We stayed here for one night while visiting the Douro wine region. The small room with a balcony was just what we needed. Air-con, wifi and good recommendations from Luis for a Porto tasting place (Fronseco) and a wonderful local restaurant across the small bridge (you will have to ask Luis for the name as I don't remember). Very clean... More

We travelled to Pinhao by train and the hotel is just across the road from the station, and is also close to the river for catching a boat trip. The owners were pleasant and had done their best to access gluten free bread for breakfast, sadly without success in the wee town of Pinhao. Our room was very small but... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We are in the Pinhão...Pinhão is a village from the Alijó County, located on the right side of the Douro River. This little town is also one of the most beautiful places of Portugal. The peaceful village has an area of about 300 acres.Pinhão is 17 kilometres far from the county seat Alijó and 38 kilometres from the capital of the district, Vila Real. The toponymy of Pinhão is justified by the fact that you can find there the junction of the Pinhão River, which is an affluent of the Douro. Pinhão is located on the very heart of the Upper Douro Region. It`s a village where the astonished landscape is dominated by the mountain, shaped in terraces all along the Douro River. The quality and the good reception of our house make the difference. ... more   less
