Out of all the places we've stayed, I believe Jim and Lorraine came closer to treating their guests like "family" than any other hosts we've experienced. By the time you leave, you may feel like you should be offering to wash the dishes! The meals by Lorraine are fantastic; the house, which Jim built all by himself, is incredible. And... More

My family of four (two children) stayed at the Laurel Point Retreat for one night on our way to ski at Snowshoe, WV. Jim and Lorraine accomodated our late arrival, during a snow storm no less, without a problem. Our room was spacious and warm and even had heated tiles in the bathroom. It was tough to get out of... Were here for a wedding over the July 4th holiday. Jim and Lorraine the owners are wonderful hosts at this very clean, well located, scenic B&B. Great Location 2 minutes outside of Monterey.Enjoy a great hike in the woods with Jodie, the Owners dog leaving from the Laurel Point Retreat. Food for breakfast each day is awesome. When we were greeted by Jim when we arrived, I asked if, "This were heaven." This is such a special place that you want to share it with those you love.We have traveled the world over, but this is as good s it gets. After 2 nights, we truly felt as if we were part of the family.Even Jodi, the... More

Laurel Point Retreat is one of the BEST B&B's we've ever had the pleasure of weekending in. The main house is a log home that was moved to a beautiful mountain peak and then lovingly restored and updated. Each of the rooms has a distinct personality, the views from the house and several of the rooms are breathtaking, the breakfasts... More

I needed a place to stay for just one night on my way from the DC area to West Virginia to do rock climbing. Most of the places near my ultimate destination had terrible reviews, so I widened my search area a bit and found the Laurel Point Retreat. Jim was so gracious. He gave me a tour of the... More

A trip to Highland County in search of property was made perfect by my stay at Laurel Point Retreat. Hosts Jim and Lorraine are quite energetic and interesting "over 60's" who will either leave you alone or, if you prefer, will eagerly share their love for the area. They fix the best regional breakfast you could imagine from buckwheat pancakes... More

Our family of 5 booked a night at Laurel Point Retreat on our way from the DC area to southern W. Virginia. We couldn't have been made more welcome. We were treated literally like family: it was Thanksgiving night, they had children and grandchildren over, and we visited with them as we ate their homemade pies. Aside from the holiday... More
