I could write 2,632 words about how tremendous Prospect Hill is. My then girl friend and I visited once and loved it. Old world history preserved in every room or house with a delicious breakfast brought to your room at your specified time. And for an extra $50 per person a four course meal in the dining room with a... More

We have never spent the night at Prospect Hill, but have eaten in the restaurant about 10 times. It is a fantastic experience and so much more than a fabulous meal. The evening begins with a complementary wine reception. You can then take your drink and wander the lush grounds, down to the wine cellar where there's a cracking fire... More

This was our second time at Propsect Hill, and we we delighted all over again. It is a magnificent property, and the staff is unfailingly welcoming. We stayed upstairs in the overseer's cottage and highly recommend its cozy, istoric-feel. My allergy-prone wife attests that it was spotlessly clean. The dinner is excellent, and we particularly recommend it because not a... More

I spent three days at The Plantation Inn on the weekend my son graduated from UVA Law School, May 19-22nd. I was totally happy with everything Bill and his staff did to make my stay perfect. At a time when Motels like Comfort Inn charged $210 a night, up from a normal of $99.00, it was very refreshing to find... More

I traveled to the Prospect Hill Plantation the weekend of 10/15 and despite having serious reservations (due to other negative Trip Advisor reviews) was pleasantly surprised. Upon arrival, I did notice the grounds had more of a rustic feel as opposed to manicured lawns and shrubs and the lawns were strewn with fallen leaves....fine by me as the entire inn... More

We had stayed here twice before, about 12 years ago and then about 5 years ago. Both prior visits had been wonderful, so we were very excited about the chance to visit Prospect Hill again. However, our memories did not match what we found... When we checked in at 6 pm, the innkeeper told us that he no longer offered... More

What a wonderful surprise. We picked it from reading reviews from several sites and looking at it online. We arrived 30 minuets before the wine tasting and took a stroll around the grounds. (Go on a cooler day as we did. It would probably be pretty hot in the summer). The ambience at the main house dining area was very... More

My husband's parents and aunt/uncle have come to Prospect Hill many times over the years, and highly recommended it for us when we wanted a get-away. As I read over the trip advisor reviews, I saw a similar pattern emerge: some travelers had an amazing trip and others felt the way we did, disappointed. I'm not sure how this happens... More

My husband and I recently spent 2 nights at Prospect Hill Plantation. We have traveled extensively, and have stayed in several inns in the Select Registry and been very well satisfied. Upon arrival, we couldn't help but notice landscaping. It has been very dry this summer, but there seemed to be no attempt at keeping it presentable. All of the... More

We chose the Prospect Hill Plantation Inn for it's historical significance and proximity to Montpelier, James Madison's home. We very much enjoyed our stay and the attentiveness of the staff especially, Jerry, our host and onsite manager, and Melvin, the chef, whose breakfast was worthy of a 5 star hotel.... The fridge was stocked with soda, water and complimentary wine... More
