My husband and I attended the Inn's Cooking School and had a delightful experience. Suzie and Ehren provided some great Spanish recipes for Columbus Day. We were pleasantly surprised at how fabulous our lunch and dinner was. We would have liked to participate more in the preparation of the food but still had a great time watching and learning tips... more

Pro: Gorgeous, rolling grounds; magnificent 200-year-old buildings; pet-friendly; breakfast included; free parking; easy drive to Charlottesville. Con: Found various junk (including a sewing needle) on the floor of our room; owners’ dog (which they let out at midnight!) woke us up with barking; downstairs office phone rang at 1 AM and woke us up again; shower for at least one... more

My girlfriend brought me to the plantation for a surprise birthday getaway. I had no idea where were going but when we arrived we were welcomed and showed our room. It was quiet and secluded...just what we needed. Breakfast was great, and done with time left to spend our day however we wanted. We had a relaxing time and explored... more

We stayed at the Inn on September 26 & 27, 2009. The drive from Charlottesville to the Inn is nice with lots of trees, rolling hills and farmland. Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance. The main house has been well taken care of considering its age. (1700's) The common room has recently received new furnishings and quite comfortable. We stayed... more

We stayed for a weekend at the Inn and ate the required dinner Friday evening and it was very good but not great and the most surprising thing was at the cocktail hour we were asked if we wanted a glass of wine and the answer was of course and then we found it on our bill. I shouldn't have... more

Spent four delightful nights at this beautiful country inn. The setting is idyllic, the accommodations comfortable elegance and the food (breakfasts and dinners) a gourmet's delight. It is about a 45 minute drive from Charlottesville, Monticello and Ashton Hall, but the drive is well worth the sacrifice in order to experience the hospitality of the owners of this exceptional inn. more

We recently stayed at Meander for Cooking School for their Mardi Gras themed classes. We stayed an extra night (Sunday prior to Cooking School) and visited Barboursville Vineyards which is only about 20-30 minutes away. It was our first VA wine experience and it was great! We stayed in "Summer Kitchen" which is a two story extension off the main... more

The plantation is beautiful and the owners are nice, but this place was problematic on many levels. We have been to several B&Bs and for the money we paid here, our expectations were not met. RESERVATION: Since I had not received any kind of email or other confirmation, I had to call the inn back days after making an online... more

This was our 3rd trip to Meander, and as always it was a treat. We stayed in Dependency #2, which is off the main house. The best things about the Dependencies are that there is a fireplace and the prices are most reasonable. The fireplace is just lovely, it is so wonderful to be able to sit in front of... more

My girlfriend and I just spent two nights here at the end of Dec 2008. The room/house (Summer Kitchen) was nice, decorated perfectly (with a Christmas tree!), comfy bed, and a great fireplace. The shower was bad; turning the hot water up over 1/4 turn made it sound like a machine-gun, too noisy to bear. So our showers were cool... more
