We were in the area for an event and decided to stay at the B&B versus a generic chain hotel. There is a 2-night minimum due to leaf-peeping season so we decided to make a weekend out of it. We were met by the charming host who showed us to our second floor suite: creaky stairs, 'house mouse' toy, small... More

My husband and I stayed here on a weekend in August. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Caledonia Farm and with the host, Phil. We were in town for an event, so we didn't get to spend as much time at the Farm as we would have liked. We were disappointed that we didn't have a chance to tour the... More

Caledonia Farm was a true delight. My gentleman friend, Wim, and I spent this past weekend at the farm along with Wim's brother and sister-in-law. We spent two nights in the two bedrooms located on the second floor of the original building with a shared bathroom. Both rooms were spacious, clean, and well appointed. Sharing the bathroom was not an issue... More

What a beautiful and genuine country B&B! My fiance and I stayed at Caledonia Farm this past January upon celebration of our engagement. Though the weather was cold, the atmosphere in the house was warm, and the surroundings breathtaking. The house itself has a cozy kitchen, with letter magnets on the fridge, and the odd newspaper clipping here and there.... More

Absolutely authentic experience of a 19th century living. Almost like living in a museum. The house which is 200 years old is very well maintained and beautifully decorated. A great weekend destination or a place to bring friends (especially visiting from the overseas as it is makes it a great and very unique cultural experience). We stayed there 3 or... More

A charming host, Phil, at a very historic 1812 farm. More than 2 miles of stone fence surround a beautiful setting. I recommend this B&B because Phil goes out above the call of duty to make your stay a great one.

Caledonia Farms in Flint Hill, Virginia was absolutely gorgeous! We loved our stay. Phil Irwin was a wonderful host, and directed us to many memorable events. He also pointed to some wonderful restaurants, and provided us with a personal breakfast each morning. The breakfast was provided in a cozy nook overlooking the farm and its breath taking mountains. We traveled... More

During the month of December 2010 we drove from New Jersey to Louisiana and on to Arizona to visit friends and family. We decided to stay for a couple of nights at the Caledonia Farm 1812 Bed and Breakfast Inn. This would provide us with an opportunity to see and experience the local area, including the various caverns. We did... More

Much like another reviewer, we had a bad stay at Caledonia Farm. The main reason was the rudeness of the owner, Phil. We did not feel comfortable interacting with him upon arrival or at breakfast. Other low points were the bathroom which was more reminiscent of a cheap 70's era motel than a rustic farmhouse (laminate floor, plastic light fixtures,... More

Our apology to this reviewer and to our MANY guests over the past 27 years for tolerating a substandard bathroom. In January 2010, a totally modern bathroom replaced the old one. Also a new system was installed for our regularly inspected and approved well water. The overdue renovations were done without harming the authenticity of the over 200 year old... More

If you are looking for modern luxury, thankfully this is not it! If you are looking for an unusual experience, then stay here. My wife and I stayed in the old slave quarters. The entire farm is a chance to live history. Stone buildings and miles of stone fences built by slaves. Phil, the owner, is a unique and fascinating... More
