Enormous stretches of gorgeous sandy beach, wild ponies, morning beach sunrises . . . this is all at your fingertips from the camp. It's a wonderful experience. We set up camp in the bayside loop and hiked all day down long stretches of beach. As others have advised, the horses are wild animals. Protect your food and don't approach them.... More

My family and I had a blast at Assategue. We only stayed the weekend, but it was beautiful. The bay and the ocean were perfect. The bathroom facilities accomadated families with small children. I adored the national park at Assateauge Island! The campsites were on beach sand, the park rangers were helpful and easygoing and the portapotties were emptied everyday and hosed down! We camped steps away from the beach, there was no seaweed in the water and we could see porpoises, wild horses, all kinds of birds, and crustaceans. I liked that... More
