Its confusing, or it was to me at least. This B&B is accessed via the same website as the Icelandic Horse Farm but although run by a married couple, the accommodation and the riding are two completely separate businesses, run by each of them at separate properties. I thought I had booked 5 days at a B&B on a horse... More

We spent 3 nights at the Mad River Inn, enjoying abundant food for breakfast and 2 delicious dinners. The appetizers before dinner were especially good. The Inn is clean and well maintained. The rooms are of reasonable size. We enjoyed the company of the owner's two little girls as well as the game room with pool table and TV and... More

My husband and I recently returned from a lovely week at the inn and the Icelandic Horse Trek. The inn was comfortable and cosy, the food delicious, and the horses superb. One of the nicest parts of the week were the other guests who were participating in the riding with us. Everyone was so congenial that we left feeling we... More

We stumbled across this quaint, wonderful Vermont B/B several months back while skiing Sugarbush, Mt. Ellen, Mad River and Stowe, and we couldn't wait to return! Everything at the Mad River Inn is top notch and then some, from the gourmet breakfasts, the most comfy beds in Vermont, the homey atmosphere, the outdoor jacuzzi, the roaring fire, the cool recreation... By far the most relaxing inn I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. The day starts by waking up in an incredibly soft and comfortable bed. Followed by a delicious gourmet breakfast served by a very gracious host. The fact it is a short distance from many ski mountains, restaurants and the charming village of Waitsfield, makes the Mad River Inn... More

I feel like Luc is so laid back that he comes across as stand-offish. I did not like having to walk through the family's kitchen every time we wanted to get back and forth to our room. Breakfast was served way too late for anyone who wants to get to the mountain before 9:30. I have never been too any... More

We stayed at this bed and breakfast inn on a ski trip to Sugarbush during the new year week. The only downside, which may not be all that bad, was that it's about 10-15 minute drive from the Sugarbush Lincoln peak. Otherwise, everything about the place was fantastic. I looked forward to enjoying the outdoor hot tub after a day... More

We are a group who take an annual horseback riding trip with Equitours (worldwide locations). We decided to stay at the Mad River Inn and test ride Karens Icelandic Horses with the possibility of going to Iceland. Most people reading this review are interested in the Inn, but I cannot stress enough that riding these sweet, user-friendly horses is an... More

My husband and I stayed at Mad River Inn for a few days in August, and loved it. The room was comfortable (though not for travelers looking for modern furnishings and fixtures). The host Luc was warm and friendly, and a good cook who prepared breakfast for us each morning (excellent muffins though I could have done with a savory... More

Recently, we stayed at the Mad River Inn. The host , Luc, was friendly and helpful. We always looked forward to the tea and homemade cookies after long days on the slopes. Luc made us a great three course breakfast each morning: muffins, fruit and a special main course like eggs benedict! It was cozy and had a fireplace where... More
