There is a new owner at Sumner Mansion and it makes all the difference in the world! Jill is taking this historic old house and is bringing it back to life with panache. An antique dealer, she has brought her great taste and flair to every room in the house. Who could resist sleeping in a huge canopied bed in... more

My husband and I just got back from staying at Sumner, and we had the most amazing time with Jill, the new owner. We attended a rehearsal dinner for 75 people, and everything was beautiful and flawless. Staying there was the most comfortable and welcoming experience we could ask for. The rooms are spacious and decorated with amazing antique decor... more

We recently enjoyed a wonderful summer weekend at the Sumner Mansion in Hartland, VT. The new owner is Jill Crowley and she exudes enthusiasm and is extremely knowledgeable about the area. A gracious hostess and, I suspect, a history buff at heart, she loves sharing her knowledge with her guests. Also a dealer of antiques, she offers for sale many... more

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Sumner Mansion while visiting friends and testing the area golf courses. The building itself is historic, dating to the early 1800s (Lafayette slept there... really!) and is conveniently located, close to the Interstate. But once on the ground you would think you were on a large and private estate. The new... more

Our experience, with the Sumner Mansion Inn and innkeepers extraordinaire, Mary Louise and Ron, go back a few years and I can honestly say I could not be more delighted that the Inn and this lovely couple, play such a prominent part in our lives together. My mother-in-law to be gave us a Christmas gift of a weekend in the... more

We just finished a three night stay at this lovely bed and breakfast. The owners, Ron and Mary-Louise were very outgoing, accommodating and down to earth lovely people. The room was everything we could have expected. Every breakfast was outstanding, especially when served by the fire on a chilly Vermont morning. more

I was supposed to have my wedding at the Sumner Mansion Inn this month, and the entire experience was horrible. I looked at the place during the winter and it looked really shoddy, but the owners said they were doing renovations, so when they showed me summer and fall pictures of elegant gardens and beautiful table setups, I fell in... more

The website is outdated, but the pictures on it made the place appear lovely, as did the description the owner gave me. However, upon arriving, I realized that the owners have let the place go to you know what. The property would be beautiful if someone with good taste and an ounce of work ethic would take it over. The... more

Where do we start? All I can say is that our stay at the Sumner Mansion Inn was more than we ever could have hoped for, and the proprietors (Mary-Louise and Ron) were so gracious and true B&B professionals. After traveling all day from Denver, CO we were exhausted and were welcomed with warm smiling faces and a beautiful suite.... more

After dropping off our granddaughter at camp for a week, didn't think there was much to see or do in Southern Vermont in summer. Boy were we mistaken! True, we didn't ski or peep at leaves, but we drove around the Windsor/Woodstock area, played golf, went swimming in a lake, and visited some great museums. We had the most terrific... more
