The Galvez has a piano bar which my mom loved to sing at. The lobby is very busy at most times. Galvez is a historic hotel. With that said, the rooms are smaller and a little more worn than what might be expected. So, the rates were a little higher than I would have wanted to pay. Yes, Rooms are a bit small be we found them comfortable with plenty of room for us. With an historic hotel, rooms are typically small. Staff was outstanding and the hotel was elegant and spotless. Would recommend to all. more

The Hotel Galvez is located in the not-so-updated part of Galveston. It sits across the street from the beach, not on the beach. The rooms may have been updated, however, the smell, the must, and the size of the rooms have not . The hotel does have a lot of charm being an older hotel. Some parts are very endearing.... more

We stayed one night at the Galvez. They were hosting three weddings there that weekend and there were very few other guests there except for the wedding parties. It's a beautiful historic hotel. Though the room was small, it was luxurious and "old world". The sheets were very soft and the towels did not have that scorched/bleach smell that you get at so many places. The pool was beautiful - you just had to ignore the street noise - and there was a good beach right across the street that you could walk... more
