The Village Inn is one of a couple of motels off the I-35 exit in Cotulla, TX. I stayed there on the night of 27 December 2005.
I was traveling east from Crystal City/Carrizo Springs, where it was a bit too early in the day to stop, so I continued. There were no motels as far as Artesia Wells, where I hit I-35, and motels in Laredo (where I was heading the next day) were either sold out or too expensive per a pre-trip web-search, so I headed "the wrong way" toward Cotulla for the night.
The first motel off the exit looked very nice, but it was slightly overpriced for my sensibilities. The nice lady running it said, "You'll be back!"
I headed for the Village Inn, where the rooms are all ground-floor in the shape of a three-sided square. The office had the telltale smell of curry. The manager was efficient but not unfriendly; he had a room available at that point, but he said that the place would fill up later (it did). I paid in...
