We stayed over the New Year which in Queenscliffe is a very busy time of the year. I had some reservations after reading some of the other previous reviews but my expereince was overwhelmingly positive. The room may have been a little warm (no airconditioning) but the service we recieved from staff was top notch. Particular mention to the young... More

Athelstane house is a charming old building in the centre of Queenscliff. It was obviously renovated a few years ago and it is srarting to get a bit tired. The rooms are typical of the era the house was constructed in, high ceilings and relatively small. The bathroom had a spa and was of a reasonable size. There was no... More

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your feedback. Do do use them for in house training and the issues will be be discussed. In regard to the dining room we ceased having a fine dining restaurant in June 2010. We did notify the Good food guide then. Our current menu has seen an increase in customers. The current 2012... Stayed here as part of a road trip along Great Ocean Road and the south-coast of Victoria. There were 6 of us travelling, and we stayed overnight in a cottage on the main street of Queenscliff. This property is rented out by Athelstane. Being on the main street (albeit 150m down from the shops) makes it conveniently located, and i'm... More

We were very happy staying at the Athelstane. The room we had (Room 1) was spacious with the most comfortable king bed and the ensuite bathroom was roomy with a spa bath and heater (a big plus on cold nights). The Althelstane staff was amazing, going beyond the call of duty to ensure we were comfortable and happy. Breakfast options... More

I stayed recently for business and I have to say I was less than impressed. I was on Room 7: no view, no balcony, QS bed and dated fittings. There were cobwebs on the inside of the windows that made me suspicious of the cleaning standards and while my room had a spa, it was not working. The room was... More

This is a lovely hotel, wonderfully renovated and decorated. It is in a fantastic location next to the main street and very close to the beach and main pier. The breakfast provided was great and there was a good range of options to choose from. Unfortunately it does have several negatives. The room we stayed in was the king room... More

Really enjoyed our three nights in Queenscliff. Staff were accommodating and helpful, especially when we required an earlier breakfast than they normally supplied. The balcony room we had was spacious and clean, bed was comfortable and the mega sized spa was fantastic and very relaxing. We ate in the restaurant for both breakfast and also had an evening meal there.... More

Having stayed in Queenscliff on numerous occasions in the past 5 years, I have found Athelstane to be the best all round B&B/ boutique hotel in Queenscliff. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The larger bedrooms are very spacious with balconies, though at least one of the bedrooms in the hotel is much more compact! All of the... More

From start to finish the staff at Athelstane went out of their way to help us. We booked a dinner bed and breakfast package, and got value for our money. Pros - Service - everyone was so, so, so willing to help. Our waiter at dinner - Ryan - managed to pick-up on the fact that someone at our table... More

This is a very expensive place, and it fell short of expectations in several key areas. Our room was adequate, but rather small and basic. There was a pleasant private balcony, complete with an ashtray that no one had bothered to empty. We were informed that our dinner reservation had been lost, but that they would “… try and fit...
