Bala is a secluded little town in wales. From the hotel all you can see are hills and the lake. the air is so clear and everything is extremely quiet. It's so beautiful up there. If you aren't having a great time out on the mountains climbing and abseiling, you're indulging in their beautifully well prepared food. The staff are...

This hotel is in a beautiful location and the staff and facilities are excellent. The food is superb. Sadly, it is not open to the public for the last 4 years. However for the partners of the John Lewis Partnership it must be a wonderful place to have a restful or energetic holiday with plenty of activites on and off...

The location of the hotel is beautiful and the staff are very friendly indeed but unfortunately the whole experience was marred by the expense of the stay.
The majority of rooms are in a purpose built block behind the hotel which was built very cheaply and has the feel of a budget roadside hotel. The walls are thin enough to...

The reviewer from Birmingham summed up my thoughts on this hotel, but I would add that there is a strong Christian ethos at the hotel that may not suit everybody. It's certainly not the place to go for a dirty weekend!
On a more practical note, it's definitely worth paying for a superior room as the views are gorgeous.

This hotel was a TIC (Tourist Information Centre) recommendation. The friendly, helpful staff, most of whom seemed to be one or another of the owners, went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a wonderful view of the lake. The dining room also had a great view of the lake...
