Spent the night at Knockinaam for our 25th anniversary last week. Had the whole place to ourselves on a chilly January night - the hotel was warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for Donna and Claire who looked after us over the course of the evening/next morning. The Churchill room was wonderful, dinner was everything we hoped... More

My boyfriend and I are just back from a lovely break at knockinaam. The hotel itself is surrounded by nothing except fresh sea air, rocks and cliffs and the sea. We were greeted by the very friendly ann who for the next day/evening was a star. Extremely friendly and welcoming nothing was too much bother. The hotel was pretty quiet,... More

It really does feel like you're perched on the very edge of the world at knockinaam- it's not surprising that this is where Michael Palin wrote from pole to pole. when a warm and peaceful atmosphere is combined with sheer isolation, it makes the whole hotel experience greater than the sum of its component parts. would love to come back... Winter makes the breaking sea in front of the hotel even more awesome. Very secluded location and well off the beaten track, Knockinaam must surely benefit from word of mouth recommendations. I'd certainly encourage friends to pay a visit. Accommodation is cosy and comfortable. Food is spectacularly good and the 500 wines on the list, together with over 120 single... More

Stayed for a couple of days in September. Lovely setting, great service and excellent coastal walks. The food in the restaurant was very good indeed with plenty of reasonably priced wines to accompany. Certainly worthy of return visit. More

This year was our 6th year of staying at Knockinaam Lodge - it is one of the most serene & peaceful places we have ever stayed. The minute you turn onto the drive that leads to the house you just feel calm & relaxed. The house itself is stylish & immaculately decorated - the quality of the fixtures & fittings... More

This was our fourth stay at Knockinhaam over a period of three years. We have stayed at four other 1 star michelin hotels in Scotland during this period but Knockinhaam is the only one we have gone back to (three times and we're going back again in mid Sept). The atmosphere is totally relaxing, the staff are attentive but not... More

Great location but there is something not right with this hotel - hard to put one's finger on what is wrong. If you want a quiet room then avoid Whin at all costs, it has the delights of the loud kitchen extractor fan from 0700-2230 somewhat making a mockery of the hotel's claim to be "so quiet you can hear...
