We stayed in the Rowardennan Hotel during our WHW trip and our room was beautiful. The only thing wrong was that there was a fan on the bathroom wall which was not sealed up properly on the outside wall and cold air was coming in. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is doind ghte WHW. more

We were given an obviously newly-renovated room on the top floor of the hotel, and it was truly gorgeous - spacious, clean, bright, with all the amenities one could wish for, and beautifully decorated too. We stayed here whilst walking the West Highland Way. Arrived soaked to the skin and frozen - we weren't offered anywhere to hang our wet clothes so had to hang stuff all over the room. We walked the West Highland Way here - Drymen to Rowardennan via Balmaha. It is directly on the WHW, so the location is perfect. On the end of a dead end road, so you have to want to come here! First the bad part... The hotel is joined to a pub, so expect plenty of general noise, car park, banging doors (and fights at kicking out time). Rooms don't seem very well insulated against this. The location of this hotel is excellent - right on Loch Lomond and at the start of the main route for walking up Ben Lomond. However, this is where the positives end. The place is currently being refurbished around the guests! No carpet on the main staircase, signs indicating "warning - falling objects" and electrical fittings hanging out of walls... more
