Stayed here on the first night on walking the west highland way. The owner was fantastic and provided faultless hospitality. Home baking on arrival and the breakfast was excellent. Outdoor hot tub is a great bonus.

We stayed here for the first night's stop walking the West Highland Way.
An absolute gem of a place and Liz is the perfect host.
The annex room slept all four of us together and gave us the use of the faboluous hot tub!!
Tea/coffee and home baking on arrival and a fantastic breakfast to set you up for the...

Liz Bates is the lovely lady who runs Bay Cottage - a beautiful and large house in Balmaha. She's very helpful and serves the most delicious tea and pastries every afternoon. Breakfast is in a lovely solarium with a stunning view. The winner, of course, is the fabulous hot tub on the terrace - absolute heaven after a walk. We...

What a gem of a place! From the moment we arrived Liz made us feel welcome. The small touches make the biggest difference at this place! We echo all the other reviews that say Bay Cottage is a great place to stay. Located in the middle of the village it's across the road from the Oak Tree so dinner is...

Enjoyed our brief stay at Bay Cottage. The afternoon tea with home bakes just hit the spot after our first 20 miles on the west highland way. Breakfast was equally good probably the best we had along the way.
The annex was cosy and had everything we needed to relax after a day's walk on the way. The location was...

This was the fifth time I had walked the West Highland Way and during these times I have stayed in many establishments but I would recommend this B&B as the best I have stayed in during these trips. From the warm welcome with tea and home baking, to the hot tub (great after a days walking), the wonderful breakfast and...

Myself and 2 friends were walking the West Highland Way in March and had booked into Bay Cottage on our first night. On arrival we were greeted by the owner who was a lovely wee woman. She made us feel very welcome and after showing us around she left us to get ready while she put a couple of logs...

Quite simply, this is one of the best B&Bs we have ever stopped in.
We first stopped here a few years ago when walking the West Highland Way and, having decided to stop in the Loch Lomond area as we travelled back from further north, this was our first choice.
On arrival, Liz provides a pot of tea, a selection...

The owner kindly took us in after dark after we'd been let down by another establishment. Lovely warm welcome. There are spacious and comfortable rooms in an annex in the garden. The house itself is a cosy delight complete with lots of books to browse and home baking and tea available in the sitting room. Lovely breakfast too with excellent...

Like so many other reviewers, we were WHW walkers arriving at Balmaha after an extremely wet day taking on Conic Hill. The welcome we got from Liz was outstanding, as was the table at teatime groaning with home-made goodies. Unsurprisingly, the quality of the breakfast was similarly top-drawer. Good job, too; the following day's walk suffered from appalling weather also,...
