I chose to stay here when I was working in Lochgilphead, despite some of the negative reviews on this site. The owners were perfectly pleasant and friendly. Can't fault them at all. I agree with others' comments regarding decor and the place being a work in progress. It's hardly luxury, and is a bit dated. It is also clean and... More

Myself and my work mate enjoyed our stay at this hotel last week and found "Basil" (peter) to be the perfect host. As we are frequent travellers in this area of scotland we have tried many hotels and this hotel is one of the best for value for money. We will most definately be booking this for future stays. More

This was the second stop on our holiday of Scotland. From the outside, the hotel looks in need of decoration. Inside, it was dated although our room was clean and comfortable. The evening meal was served in what was also the bar. On enetering the hotel, I notcied what looked like a function room and I wonder whether this is... More

There are some starkly contrasting reviews here so thought it might be useful to add a recent one. Obviously the hotel is a work in progress with the current owners making up over time for some years of neglect. That said it's perfectly clean and comfortable. The breakfast room being an obvious example of the tasteful & contemporary look they... More

On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from Peter the owner of the hotel. Our room was of a high standard, spotlessly clean, tea/coffee making facilities, the bathroom and toilet facilities were equally spotless and well stocked with soap, towel, bath/shower gel etc. We spent our evenings in the hotel bar chatting with friendly local people and fellow... From the moment we stepped into the hotel right up to the moment that we checked out , not ONCE did the owner (Peter) smile at us or our 3 girls! His whole demeanour was humourless and insipid and myself and husband felt unwelcome. The hotel itself is lovely (yes with an 1950's feel!!!) and could do with a much-needed... More

We returned again to the Lochgair on our way to the Island of Gigha, and found the hotel every bit as good as it was the last time we stayed there in July 2010. The accommodation, food and service is as good as you will get in the West Coast of Scotland, and we recommend this as a good stopping... More

My husband and I flew from Australia to have our second wedding there with his family. It was fantastic. The staff were very organised and accommodating. The food was great and plenty of it. All of our guests stayed the night at the hotel. Hubby and I stayed elsewhere so cant make much of a comment on the rooms but... More

We stayed here for 2 night at the end of April and had a fantastic time. The current owner has been in charge for 18 months and, based on what a few other reviews have said, it looks like he's made a lot of good improvements. The owner was very friendly and helpful, the decor in the rooms was good... More

I can only assume the previous reviewer was lost and not at the Lochgair hotel at all. During the course of my business I stay in many hotels and guest houses all over the country and abroad. I can tell you from experience that the Lochgair Hotel is is one of the friendliest and cleanest hotels I have been in.... More
