Stayed for one night on business. I had single occupancy of twin room & I don’t know the cost as it was booked & paid for by a client. The room was quite nice. A decent size & nicely decorated. A decent sized desktop with light which is useful for business types with laptops. Small things make a difference &... more

I have now stayed (with work) in this hotel on six seperate occassions, every time in a different room, which so far have ranged from a very small & basic (& not very clean) single to a spacious twin - which would have easily passed for any one of the large national hotel chains. The food in the restaurant in... more

We stayed at the Grey Gull for three nights at the end of May 2009 and found it a very pleasant experience. The staff (especially the man at Reception - Murdo?) were very firendly and helpful with the requirements of my elderly mother. The food was substantial and good. Rooms large and comfortable. A good base for a lovely area. more

I booked a stay at the Grey Gull for me and my partner and 3 other friends as we were getting married in Lochgilphead. The rooms are not normally available until 3pm. they told me not to worry as a room would be made available for us to get changed in. we arrived around 12.30 and we all got our... more

I read the reviews here and contacted the hotel to reserve three rooms for our family. The staff are really lovely and with this in mind we approached the hotel with confidence that we would enjoy our stay. Sadly we were disappointed. Upon parking we were greeted by the site of dried sewage from a drain overflow at the side... more

What a relief after staying in terrible hotel on Islay decided to stop off before heading straight home from late ferry. Arrived late and met by owner, very accomodating, room lovely if maybe a wee bit dated but spotlessly clean. Only complaint was booked for 2 adults and 2 child but room had double bed and 1 single so kids... more

We spent almost 2 weeks in Scotland and England (including 4 star Marriott properties)and our stay at the Grey Gull was by far the most enjoyable. I read some previous negative comments about the manager (I believe his name was Mr.. MacLeod) but we found him to be very friendly and enjoyable. Based on my two teenage sons he even... more

We stayed at the Grey Gull for a wedding with 2 other couples. On arrival we were met by a surly gentleman at reception. Both our friends -and as we found out later, many other guests- had a similar experience at sometime over their stay with the same gentleman. We were told to liase with the restaurant as to when... more

We arrived on Saturday and took a walk along the Crinan Canal. The whole area is great to walk. It is well worth watching for a boat to come in or out of the canal entrance to see how the Victoria locks work. Our room was clean and tidy with crisp bed linen. The breakfast was perfect, you choose your... more
