There's no doubt the hotel could do with some extensive capital works. Years of neglect and some bad luck with flooding have given this hotel a real knock. However, current management is doing a great job in very difficult circumstances. The rooms are basic but just about acceptable. The facade and some of the communal areas could definitely do with... I work offshore and have stayed in many hotels, this one may not have luxury rooms or be in the best location but the food is honestly the best I have ever had in my life. Staff are nice and the room I stayed in was perfectly acceptable.

We arrived on 30rh April to stay in digs as we were working up in Aberdeen. The staff were friendly, rooms were tidy and the meal was decent. Tv room had the football on and we were allowed to have a carry out while watching it. Fiona on reception couldn't be anymore helpful and sorted our bill out no problems.... More

Just like Brian M, I used to frequent the Udny Arms in the 90s and it was my favourite watering hole until I retired and relocated. On a recent trip back to catch up with friends, we decided to pop in for afternoon tea. Oh dear, big mistake. From the moment we arrived to an empty car park (on a... More

... they say, for you are sure to be disappointed. And I sure was. The Udny Arms Hotel, is, our was, something of an institution. In the 1990s I stayed there quite often whilst on work trips from Edinburgh to nearby Cruden Bay and all points south. It was a positive delight. The ambience, the place, the people. Not any... More

Our golfing group recently stayed here whilst on a short trip to the area. The hotel is badly run down and requires some serious investment to refurbish the rooms and public areas. The first thing to meet you on your arrival is a front entrance which has rotting wood and peeling paint - not a good first impression.... The rooms... More

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and always found the food to be very good. However, tonight was very disappointing. The first course of mushrooms soup could not be faulted but there was a very very long wait for the main course of chicken ballottine. When it arrived the plate was stone cold and the vegetables luke... More

New management, ( new/ old great chef returned ) the owners are burying money into this beautiful hotel believe me! Due to the neglect of previous owners. Please please try the food it'll go round your heart. Lunch is a good time to meet the new management / chef. Just put on an extra layer and enjoy, then go walk... More

We stayed here in October, and one of the only good things was the food! What a difference now - the rooms are lovely and fresh, fruity and delicious toiletries, a mini bar, and the biggest beds I've ever slept in - AND the food is to die for!! On both evenings, my colleague and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals.... More

You'll get no cock and bull from this place... All of you that can get in a car and drive for 10 minutes From the bridge of don, or 15 minutes from Peterhead..... (Never mind rooster and highland cow!! Where the food shows promise but doesn't deliver) There's a new chef !! awesome standard... Not to mention the most amazing... More

Nestling in a delightful part of Grampian Scotland, the Udny Arms Hotel is very convenient for Aberdeen and main routes, yet sitting quietly in a riverside, country village setting, not far from the coast and beaches. Modern comforts blend with a traditional style and charm that escapes most city centre hotels, making it a wonderful alternative to Aberdeen for the discerning traveller seeking that bit more than a standardised city centre hotel. ... more   less
