Bayfield's a good base to stay over when exploring Portree & the Isle of Skye. It's very clean, well-located and has a really nice kitchen to cook in. We met a friendly Ian who shared cooking tips and Skye's attractions. Just round the corner is a bakery- Great for quick breakfast take-aways of yummy pastries & bread rolls to eat... More

This is one of the best backpackers I've stayed in UK so far. Not that it looks particularly special comparing to others, but for some reason they manage to do everything right, from the spacious dining room to the powerful showers and clean bathroom and not to mention the comfortable beds. I slept so well there it was simply amazing.... More

Very, very well located (few blocks away from supermarket, pubs, restaurants, shops, ATM, etc.). A wonderful view from the dinning room/ kitchen. The rooms are clean (no wood is used, so no chance for bugs!), showers have a nice pressure of hot water (especially after a whole day outdoors!). Only area for improvement, in the kitchen I would label trash... More

A great hostel with a million dollar view at the front door! I really did enjoy my stay here, the rooms and beds were comfortable, staff friendly and a great location just a few flights of stairs to the town square. I don't know why other reviewers have an issue with cinderblock walls - they were brightly painted and not... More

This hostel is located in the centre of Portree, a 2 minute walk from the bus station in the main square. I stayed 2 nights at this hostel in one of the upstairs dorms. The downstairs of the hostel (and the dorms located there) appeared to be the painted brickwork as mentioned in previous reviews, however upstairs the dorm was... More

Possibly the most unwelcoming hostel I have ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a *lot* of hostels. The nice Welsh guy on reception was the only saving grace. Grim, undecorated concrete breezeblock walls, obsessive keycard system - 3 swipes just to get from your room to the kitchen! - tiny, cramped room with no room for luggage or even... More

Not a pleasant place to spend much time. Bare breeze block walls and cramped rooms make it feel somewhat like a prison (not helped by the infuriating amount of times you have to swipe a security card). Not a great nights kip to be had either - with squeaky bunks, terrible mattresses and bedding of questionable cleanliness. It was also... More

We were caught unexpectedly in Portree for two days, unable to leave because we were cycling and there were 48 hours of gale-force winds. Tourist information managed to find us an excellent B&B for the first night, but it was fully booked for the second, so we went into town to ask around. We arrived at the hostel and rang... More
