Stayed here with work. Great location right in the centre of town but not much else in it's favour. Room floor sloped so much my hairspray rolled from one side and bounced off the other. Wardrobe was stick of wood hung above the tv - which despite asking twice to be fixed never worked whilst we were there. Neither did... More

First of all, Portree is gorgeous. I love the mountains. Your close to alot of historic sites and some very unique mountains just a few minutes outside of Portree.Eilean Donan Castle is just a 45 minute bus ride away. Oh right the hotel. The hotel was exactly what you paid for. Nothing is in the room. Nothing, Just a bed.... More

The location is great for someone who is traveling by bus and walking! The staff from the front desk to the kitchen were great. I was giving special treatment by management, because the people who own and run are there, and make sure you are taken care of. The food was great, at any time of day. You can feel... More

We stayed here as part of a group. It didn't have a lift (elevator), so was a bit difficult for our older, less mobile travelers and people with heavy luggage. Aside from that, the rooms were fine -- clean and had lots of character. Had my best two nights of sleep on our trip at the Portree Hotel. The staff... More

Many hotels in Skye need a lick of paint and clearly suffer from neglect. Portree deserves credit. Yes it’s an old hotel but the owners are spending money and I think are concerned for their guests and try hard, it shows. Give me service and a willingness to please over appearances any day. The Hotel was after all built in... More

We are about to finish our wonderful visit in Scotland and, unfortunately, we stepped into the Hotel Portree restaurant for dinner. My wife asked for o mushroom strogonoff from the rather appealing description on the menu. We never taste such a thing : it is impossible to describe how disgusting it was. She returned it and opted for a goat... More

I am so sorry that you did not enjoy our food and I can only apologise. We have a new chef and have for the past few months been gaining rave reviews for our food. Regarding the water, we do not and have never charged for water from the tap, the only water we charge for is bottled. Apologies once... More

Our hotel is old you are quite correct, ar least two hundred years, part of our charm. The rooms and interior, however, are all modern. It is not dirty, if the desk was unoccupied how did you manage to come to the conclusion that the people were unfriendly - or do you mean the whole population of skye? Our desk... More

My husband and I stayed here during our visit to Skye for the Highland Games. We were initially checked into room 301 which had an uncomfortable and dirty mattress, no water pressure and the bathroom smelled of urine (carpet in the bathroom, which I find unhygienic). However, when I approached staff the second night about the standards of the room,... More

Thankyou for taking the time to give us a review.. The 1st room you had is in the process of receiving a new bed (we try and change them all over the process of a year so that no bed is older than a year.) We are also replacing the carpets in the bathroom as and when the rooms are... More

Did not stay at the hotel, but noticed they were advertising a room at £30 per night, so plan to stay there October 2011. Spent a day in Portree and stopped off for lunch at Portree Hotel. Food was above average quality - below average price. Staff were on the ball also. A nice experience. More

We arrived on Skye fairly late in the evening and was hoping against hope to find a place to eat. The Hotel was there in the main square and the menu looked appetising. We went in to find that there was a 20-minute wait, but the young man at the desk guided us to a most comfortable sofa and arranged... More
