To describe this place as charming would be an understatement. Scottish country living at a reasonable price for the highlands traveler on the Isle of Skye. Built I believe in 1923, with a semi formal garden, and period rooms nicely done, it has very much the feel of an old Scottish estate. While not in the greatest of repair, superior... More

On the outside this hotel looks promising - nice grounds, typical old style hotel building. However inside was much less appealing. The public bar was quite tired looking, small and was an 'honesty' bar as no one working in the hotel appeared to be able to pull a pint. Limited selection of drinks available. The bedroom we were allocated was... More

A bit of time travel involved here - you felt as if you could have been staying at a Scottish country manor back in the 30s when entering MacKinnon Country House Hotel. Of course, it helps that you're on Skye which has a bit of Brigadoon about it anyway... More

We stayed at this country house as it was part of our Highland Experience Tour. There is no elevator so be prepared to carry luggage up the stairs. the first room we were given was standard size but the room was very old, the bed had very old bedspread and was actually dirty when I pulled the bedspread up I... Mackinnon Country House Hotel is a wonderful small, family-owned hotel conveniently located near the Skye bridge. Our room was simple and comfortable with a nice view of the garden; the bathroom was fine though it did not have the greatest water pressure. There was wireless internet access; the signal in our room was pretty weak but we were told it... More

We were only able to stay one night but thoroughly enjoyed our time at the MacKinnon House Hotel. The room was clean, bright and nicely decorated (with a four poster bed) and great bathroom. The hotel is family run and really is not like staying at a Marriott or Hilton - for instance they operate an honour bar for drinks.... More

Stayed here for work for 3 nights on my own. The owners Iain and Carol were very friendly and would do anything for you. They have a lovely dog called moss who.wanders about. The food is fantastic and the drawing room With the real fire is lovely. They have an honesty bar where you can help yourself. My room was... More

The place was really charming. Every place has it's Fawlty Towers moments, but in this case, they are by far outnumbered by the good ones. The room was clean and spacious and so was the rest of the house. We had a nice chat over a drink in a gorgeous living room before we went off to our rooms. Dinner... More

Had a great stay here with a Rick Steves tour group. The food was excellent and the owner/chef was very entertaining. Each room is based on a Scottich Clan, we had the Anderson Clan room #12 in the carriage house. It was quiet and comfortable. The main house is very interesting in its decor and the bar was a self-serve... More
