Went there last year. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room has quite regular plain furniture. Nothing really romantic, nor elegance or cachet. There is nothing to do in the neighbourhood, nor has the hotel something to offer like a sauna, a swimming pool, etc, absolutely nothing. For A LOT LESS than that price you are in Gleneagles Hotel (one... more

Dear HighlandClub, We are NOT Gleneagles Hotel, nor the Balmoral, nor are we competing or trying to offer anything like that type of experience! We are a Gold 5-Star Restaurant with Rooms operating in a far-flung corner of the remote Hebridean Islands in north west Scotland. Why exactly did you choose to come here? SS

We were here in Oct. 2008 on our honeymoon.... We are right on the edge of Loch Dunvegan at the top left side of Skye. A few weeks ago Frank Bruni, the food critic for the New York Times, reviewed The Three Chimneys restaurant. He did a fabulous slide show and narrated his experience here making us even more excited... more

This is the second year we have spent the New Year at the Three Chimneys and, if anything, it was even better than last time - the food is absolutely wonderful and the staff couldn't be nicer. The House Over By is being refurbished over the next couple of weeks and sounds as if it will be even more luxurious... more

Dear Ian, Thank you - you could not be more complimentary if you tried! It is a pleasure to have you staying with us and we are very pleased that you enjoyed yourselves even more this time around. If you could see us now, you might not return! Melt-down! Lots of dust and rubble! At least the weather is very...

I want to write to say what an amazing two nights we spent here. The room was lovely, warm comfy and with a fridge and a reasonably priced mini bar. Lovely toiletries and little extras like mineral water, Scottish tablet, fresh fruit, home made shortbread. The food was fabulous. Breakfasts were amazing I loved all the choice. We also loved... more

Having just returned from a short break at The Three Chimneys and having read the reviews on here before our trip, I have felt compelled to write my first review on Tripadvisor due to the negativity of some of the reviews. After having had several recommendations to try the Three Chimneys from other travellers we decided to have our annual... more

Lovely, quiet, peaceful place. Lovely rooms - large, very comfortable bed and bedding, plenty of space, fridge (with free water and proper milk), good tea and coffee making kit, fruit and other edible goodies, everything you could possibly want. Comfy armchairs, plenty of tables, window seat, smart little telly, iPod dock. Fresh flowers. Gleaming modern bathroom with particularly nice smellies... more

We ate in the Three Chimneys for one evening of our honeymoon in October 2009. It's probably fair to say that it was the most anticipated evening of the week, and it didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly, the service was excellent, and the location is simply wonderful for such an accomplished and reputable restaurant. The only criticisms I... more

This is the first time we have ever commented on trip advisor and we have stayed in some wonderful locations, however our stay here really was something special. We stayed for two nights 12th and 13th September to celebrate a special wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful experience, from the moment we arrived we were welcomed and made to feel... more

We went there for lunch, and stopped by chance going from Dunvegan to the lighthouse above Milovaig. We were hungry, but we could not imagine that this nice modest house would offer the best meal we ever ate in Scotland: the food was delicious, the wines perfect, the service courteous and professional and the decor is subdued and of the... more

Dear Philippe47, Your comments reminded us of how The Three Chimneys began, 25 years ago, here at Colbost on the Isle of Skye. In those days, we had so few forward bookings and never knew who would turn up when we opened our doors for lunch and dinner every day. This is how people discovered us originally and the fact...

We had three great dinners at The Three Chimneys and stayed at The House Over By. It was all excellent. The dinners were first class: fine ingredients, combined into interesting dishes with "a bit of a twist, and cooked to perfection. Great. The accommodation in The House Over By was also great. It isn't a hotel and doesn't set out... more
