This hostel is cheap, warm and clean, £16 a bed in a dorm. The owner is friendly and helpful. It's right in the centre of Stornoway, ideal for the ferry and the buses. Free basic self service breakfast, good kitchen for self-catering, and near good butchers, bakers, fishmongers and Co-op store. Loads of Harris Tweed on sale in the town.... More

Hostel is great; centre of town; warm, comfortable, free wifi and breakfast, and the owner is great with guests. About 100 yards to free carpark and not much further to a supermarket [closed on Sundays]. Good value and not a problem to share with others. The female room upstairs has a great bathroom too. Other hostellers are very friendly as... More

We come here every year with the Aberdeen University Surf Club and have a fantastic time. The girls' room upstairs has a beautiful ensuite bathroom with a big bath in the middle and a separate shower. Very cosy feel, with nice communal living room and a country kitchen. Also nice garden space out the back with a new drying room... More

I stayed here while on tour with Scottish Opera. Wasn't sure what to expect but blown away when I arrived. This hostel is smack in ye middle of Stornoway and about 100yds from the ferry. Christine, the owner, met me on arrival and couldn't be more personable. It is small so if recommend booking, only has 26 beds; males only,... More

As with all of Scotland, if any of your party are rather tall, no bed will be very comfortable for them. However, for the average person, the beds are all great. Four of us stayed in the family dorm together and had a wonderful experience. Open a window and turn on the space heater provided, or it tends to get... More

Spent a night in the Heb Hostel last week and had a fantastic time. Christine, the owner, could not be more welcoming and goes above and beyond what would be expected. Hostel is spotlessly clean, rooms spacious, beds comfortable.

Excellent hostel, friendly owner. Clean, all mod cons, the bathroom in the ladies dorm was excellent and the bunks were comfortable. Very well positioned near both the ferry and bus station.
