We stayed here with 5 Islay- Friends for 2 nights in November. The rooms where o.k., nice, warm and clean. Full Scottish Breakfast with a great view to the ferry terminal and over the Sound of Jura was a big start every day. The public bar is well equipped, the menu offers local fish as well as traditional scottish diners.... More

First of all, the good parts. This small inn has an excellent location just a short walk from the ferry terminal, with a stunning view in good weather across the Sound of Islay towards Jura. It is fascinating watching the coming and going of the ferries and fishing boats from the dining room window. I was greeted at reception by... More

Dirty beds - we found a hair in the bed, so clearly it had not been cleaned. The rooms were cold. And it was priced at a ridiculous level compared to what it offered. The only reason we didn't go somewhere else is because we checked in late and would have needed to get a taxi across the island. One... More

Expensive, fat smell pervaded the restaurant, eastern european staff were friendly and tried, bar staff had negligible knowlege of whisky - on Islay. Rooms clean but dated. More

I only knew the restaurant at this hôtel where I had been several times , first time in 2000. With a new chef and a renovation of bedrooms, it is now one of the best hôtels on Islay. The seafood is excellent and reasonnably priced, and steaks can be grilled the way we like it in France, this being had... More

Staff all very friendly, bar is excellent, well run for a small hotel. Food has been superb, especially the seafood so very fresh, they have holding pots in the harbour! Yes, the hotel is dated but the rooms are comfortable and it is part of its charm. We spoke to most of the staff, who were helpful, even the chefs are... More

Rooms basic, service more basic and food restaurant prices but pub quality. Catch of the day was Tuna Steak, Islay is an incredible island with many features however i find it hard to believe Tuna made it this far North and for a place to advertise "fresh, local seafood" they are having a laugh ! Handy for the ferry is... More

We spent two nights at the hotel during terrible weather, but its lovely location by the bay meant the worst of the gales passed us by. The place is like hotels used to be, a bit dowdy and tired, although we did have en suite. It took a while to check in as the staff were very busy, the place... More
