Very pleased to be back since the Michelin star has arrived. More staff around to,but that meant we only saw the owner for a few minutes when she visited the dining room, never met the reservation lady, and the young staff had no interest in us once we were shown to our (very very large) room, "Inchcape". We were not offered refreshments... More

Tucked away in a quiet corner of South Ayrshire, near the village of Ballantrae, for those who love unashamed luxury and pampering in style, this Relais and Chateaux listed castle should be a must on your list of places to stay. Owned and run by Graham & Fay Cowan of the McMillan family, entry to the grounds and Castle, is... More

Late on Saturday I realised that we were able to escape away for our first wedding anniversary and the recent cascade of accolades for Glenapp Castle with its 4 rosettes from the AA and first Michelin Star insured it was high on our list. However after some digging the food awards simply arrived on top of wonderful hotel reviews and... More

We had a fabulous champagne lunch yesterday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had never been to Glenapp before and were amazed at how beautiful the grounds and the castle were. We received a lovely warm welcome and amazing service. They have just been awarded a Michelin Star and I'm not surprised as the food was definitely on par with... More

This is a truly special place. Having viewed all the bedrooms on line our expectations were high, but this did not prepare us for our upgrade to one of the two master rooms i.e. The Earl of Orkney. It would have to be awarded the most sumptuous hotel bedroom ever. It would be unfair to go into great descriptive detail... More

We were fortunate enough to stay 2 nights at this great spot recently. After being there and reading the reviews, I agree with those that state it is a wonderful experience at a fabulous place. Our room, a "garden view" was very spacious and comfortable. Being 6'4" tall, our bed was plenty large and comfortable. The food was also fabulous... More

Stayed for 2 nights for wedding anniversary in August 2011 and had wonderful stay. The castle has been well restored over the years and now has all the facilities of a 5 star hotel, except leisure. The castles bedroom and public rooms are beautiful and you get a real sense of what it would be like to be lady or... More

We felt very special being met at the door by a group of the staff who whisked away the luggage while Fay welcomed us to the hotel. We stayed in the Bryce room which had a lovely changing view of Ailsa Craig. After afternoon tea we had a lovely walk in the formal gardens and through the wilder area where... More
