Strathpeffer is a lovely place but if you can, avoid this hotel or only stay for a night. I expend a full week over Scotland and I may say I could find very undfriendly staff over there, very unhelpful when I need any assistance. When I talk to the manager, often busy, most of the time, I could not find... more

Thank you for your recent comments on trip advisor. The hotel is continually being upgraded, but as you can imagine being a Victorian building sometimes it is extremely difficiult to move into certain areas. All the satff at the hotel are extremely helpfull and we do have many compliments about how friendly they are. I am sorry this detracted from...

From the outside of the hotel and also the website you expect this hotel to have an incredible interior to match. How wrong you would be. Our double room turned out to be a twin room with walls so thin you could hear every spoken word, the tv and movement in the room next door. The toilet seat didn't stay... more

Took advantage of Easy-Breaks reunion - 4-night offer, D.B& B. Found the hotel to be excellent in every way. The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient. The buffet breakfast and 4-course dinner were excellent in both quality and quantity. Service in the dining-room was exceptional, being the best we have experienced in any of the many Easy-Breaks hotels we... more

Do not do this to yourself, the hotel looks good from the outside but is awful on the inside. It smells of damp, the rooms are in serious need of an upgrade and the food is awful! The staff are ok, but don't speak a word of English, managers are a different story not helpful in the slightest when it... more

Booked this a double room in this hotel through Laterooms.com to go up for a leisure weekend with my partner. Had always wanted to stay in this hotel since I was a child as my grandparents lived in Strathpeffer. What a disappointment. On arrival we were told there were no double rooms available and we would have to take a... more

I totaly dissagree with the bad reports. Yes the rooms could do with a upgrade and yes they could be cleaner. But its an old hotel with lots of character and countryside. the staff are very helpfull and friendly along with nice food. I recently stayed in a 4 star hotel in Edinburgh and belive me it was worse!! more

Thank you very much for your comments recently on Trip Advisor. They are very welcome. The views from our front facing bedrooms are unique to this area and offer some of the best scenery in the northern highlands. I am a disabled single traveller who stayed at the Ben Wyvis to attend a wedding. I stayed the whole w.e 3 nights. I have read the other reviews while staying at this hotel. I am not in agreement with the negative comments. A person staying at a 120+ year old hotel, cannot expect the same standards as a brand new Hilton. Get real. The staff were very professional and friendly. Yes, they are a multicultural lot, but communication wasn't much of a... more

The downstairs is old world and very comfortable. Upstairs is a different matter. All the corridors were musty as was the bedroom. The windows were filthy. The shower was not working. The town is generally rundown. We could not find a restaurant. We looked at some of the other hotels but all looked very neglected and unkempt more
