This was the second time we have stayed and it was every bit as good as the last time. The location is good, nowhere is very far up here, and Jan and John are wonderfully welcoming hosts. The house is peaceful and the rooms are immaculate, the breakfast is superb, the Westray smoked haddock and one of Jan's scones is... More

Holland House was wonderful. Jan was a gracious and generous host. The food was marvellous and nothing was too much trouble, including doing my washing and greeting me whenever i returned. I cannot recommend Holland House highly enough. It is truly a 'home away from home'. More

We stayed five nights. The accommodation is lovely, the food excellent, and Jan and John are superb hosts. They know just how to combine a relaxed and friendly approach with a flawless standard, and really go the extra mile to help. The location is good, too - handy for all the main sights on Mainland and for ferries to other... More

We stayed at the Holland House for three days and were delighted! The central location is ideal, with all major attractions only 15 minutes away by car. At the same time, we loved the tranquility of the country setting, with a beautiful garden and farms across the lane. You will struggle to find a B&B anywhere with more attention to... More

No matter how hard the wind is blowing or the rain falling on Orkney, the sun is always shining in Holland House. These weary travelers were first made to feel at home by the sight of the Stars and Stripes flying above the leafy oasis that is the walled garden of Jan and John's lovely B&B. An 18th. century portrait... More

If you're going to Orkney, then stay here! It is a guarantee of a wonderful stay. You feel home right away. I enjoyed my stay very much, and will happily return and stay there the next time, I'm visiting the Orkney islands. More

My husband and I did quite a bit of traveling through the Scottish Highlands and also Orkney, staying at many different places, mostly bed and breakfasts. From the very first exchange of emails, Jan was so helpful and welcoming. When we arrived at Holland House, it was in the rain and we couldn't quite find it at first - then... More

You cannot go wrong by booking into one of the lovely rooms at Holland House in Orkney. My husband and I completely enjoyed our stay there in June. We had a huge room and wonderful bathroom. Breakfast was fabulous with homemade jams, lots of fruit, cereals and fully cooked meal to order. Our hostess Jan was warm, welcoming and extremely... More

Unfortunately we only had 48 hours for the Orkneys, arriving and leaving via ferry, so it were only two nights we could spend in Jan's place. Though we had only the "single room" - Jan had warned us in advance that it was too small to be classified as a double room! - it was a perfect stay! Stylish, comfortable,... More
