We stayed here for a wedding nearby, so weren't really looking for much anyway, but I had felt nostalgic about going as my father used to stay there frequently for work and fishing etc so I recalled the name from growing up. Unfortunately for the hotel, we had just returned from our incredible honeymoon, so it was quite a reality... More

As the hotel is only a ten minute walk from my house, there hasn't been the need to stay here, and hence I cannot comment upon the accomodation. However, my wife and I eat here fairly regularly. It also has the most attractive bar of all the licensed premises in the area, so if you want a quiet drink, you... More

Have just come back from a nights stay at this hotel and had a really lovely time! As you pull up the building itself is very attractive as is the reception area when you enter. We stayed in what I think is classed as one of the master rooms... A large room with a huge bay window and four poster... More

Stayed here for one night in November 2011. Had a "Classic" double room which I believe is the basic level of room in the hotel. The room & shower room were both VERY dated and 'tatty' with dirty grouting in the shower which put me off using it. There were cobwebs all over the light fittings and on the ceiling... More

I stayed for 5 nights during September 2011. It is a nice looking hotel set in pleasant gardens. The room I was given at first had quite an unpleasant smell in it, but when I brought this to the attention of reception they moved me without any fuss. The rooms are generally adequate. Not particularly large but clean and functional.... More

The hotel itself was nice but the room was very small and dated. The bathroom was small and the tiles and grouting were awful. The breakfast was good. We had people smoking in the next room. Told receptionist but nothing was done about it. We had to put up with the smoke seeping into our room all evening and again... More

Ramnee has a strict No Smoking Policy and it is extremely disappointing when this is ignored by guests. Further to your comments we have reviewed our management policy on dealing with this issue and in future we shall take immediate action to charge guests if they smoke in our bedrooms and will compensate any guests who have been affected by... My husband and I stayed in the hotel in Room 217. When booking I specifically requested, that we did not have a ground floor room, when we arrrived we were directed through a door down some stairs to a dark corridor which had piles of dirty bedlinen on the floor very near to the fire escape door!! and a vacuum... Guest feedback is always appreciated and I have taken the opportunity to thank these guests for their frank comments, although in fairness they do not reflect the overall standard we provide. Housekeeping has always been to a high standard; there may have been a period this Summer when standards slipped, this has been recognised and is being addressed. The investment... More

Enjoyed a nice family meal here the other day. It was our second visit. All our choices from the varied menu were really nice. Service was friendly but rather erratic and disorganised at times, however some complimentary drinks were offered as compensation for this and our outing was not spoiled. We will definitely return. I stayed for 4 nights as had business nearby. The hotel was recommended and booked by my hosts and I could not fault their choice. It is a classically elegant building situated a few minutes walk from the pleasant town centre. All the staff were efficient and obliging, my room was comfortable and well equipped and very clean, the only... More

I have stayed in this hotel twice before and have previously written a positive review. I returned for my third stay to visit family in the area. I had not intended to leave a further review until I read the negative review below and did not hold the same opinions as the OP. Bath and Shower water in our bathroom... More
